Previously, we spoke about the mysterious IKEA outlet at Jurong Point under renovation where no one really knows what it’s about.
Well, mystery solved.
On 12 Dec 2020, it was reported by 8Days that this small, lonely store in Jurong Point is going to be IKEA’s “planning and renovation outlet” in the west.
Here’s what you need to know.
IKEA Opening Interior Design Studio in Jurong Point
The outlet, located near McDonald’s on the first level, won’t have the wide, dizzying array of furniture that you’re used to at their outlets.
Instead, according to the store boarding which is still up it’s meant solely for interior consultancy services and is opened in partnership with Livspace, a Bangalore-based interior design firm.
On Livspace’s website, it calls itself “IKEA’s official renovation partner in Singapore” and have a presence in IKEA’s Alexandra and Tampines outlets.
Interested customers can go down to either of the outlets for a free consultation with their designers, it added.
BTO Packages from $9K
You might not know it but IKEA’s offering more than furniture for your home.
According to IKEA’s website, they have HDB BTO packages as well with prices starting from S$9,900 for a two-room flat.
For three-room flats, the price starts from S$12,500 and S$15,600 for 4-room flats.
As for why I said starting from, the cost of delivery and installation from IKEA hasn’t been included in the price yet, and you might be tempted to add-on items after the consultation.
In fact, they have a “Don’t Say Bojio” going on right now too, where if you spend above $20,000 or $25,000, you can get free gifts.
A One-Stop Solution
A quick peek at one of their packages showed that Livspace is determined to make your single stop at IKEA a one-stop solution.
From interior design to contractors, they also have insurance and even financing options from their partner bank, Maybank, to solve every problem you might face during, and after, the renovation.
There’s also a one-year return period for any IKEA products that you are not satisfied with.
You can find out more about their services here.
On a separate note, the iconic IKEA catalogue that you might be used to has discontinued.
The reason, according to IKEA, is because more people are moving online, and they’ll be channelling the money (which is a hefty part of the yearly marketing budget), into other channels.
