Carousell is both a wonderful and scary place.
Sometimes, you may find little treasures that you’ve been hunting for forever, and maybe even at a nice price.
Or, if you recall, you find some people reselling government-issued masks at $20.
We can even use more classic examples, such as those who resell concert tickets for sky-high prices.
And now, another one of these scenarios is happening again, this time involving some Lego sets.
After Raiding IKEA for Limited-Edition Lego Sets, People are Now Reselling Them on Carousell
Say these two words and you can probably summon a crowd anywhere in Singapore.
Limited edition.
Which was precisely the situation at IKEA recently, when they announced their limited edition BYGGLEK collection.
Sales for the item began on 18 Feb, Thursday, and was limited to three boxes per in-store shopper
Depending on the size of the set, they either cost around S$19.90 or S$24.90.
And of course, the queues and rush to get them were massive.
One went down to an IKEA slightly past 11am and mentioned seeing a line of roughly 150 people waiting to buy said items.
Several were even seen trying to buy over the item limit.
In branches like IKEA Tampines, almost all the sets have been sold out as of this writing.
Though we’re sure it’ll be gone in no time.
Items Resold Online For High Prices
But you read the title, so you know it doesn’t end here.
Some who’ve managed to secure have sites have taken to Carousell and reselling them at higher prices.
And the price of some of these is…rather painful to look at.
The image above is two big and two small boxes, which cost almost $90.
However, the seller has brought the price up to $120, roughly a third more than the original price.
There was even another similar one that sold the same number of sets but at $150.
So I guess if you’re really desperate for them, you probably have to burn a hole in your wallet if the IKEA near you has them sold out.
Or you could simply just wait till 25 Feb, where these limited edition sets will be available for online purchase.
Which will once again begin yet another cycle of buying and reselling.
Still, we’re not sure if this craze can top the reselling of McDonald’s Gold Minions, with some of them going for as high as $180 at the time.
You can check that out over here.
