After all, before Circuit Breaker broke our lives, IKEA was the last place hoomans went to.
The restaurant chain, which happens to also sell furniture, has just confirmed that it is reopening its two stores in Singapore.
But…the restaurants are still closed.
Confirmed: IKEA Reopening Both Outlets on 19 June But Restaurants Remain Closed
The Swedish restaurant chain has just confirmed that its doors will reopen come 19 June 2020, but there would be a few changes.
Firstly, the opening hours would be different. The Alexandra outlet will open from 10am to 9pm on Sundays to Thursday, and 10am to 11pm on Fridays and Saturday.
The Tampines outlet will open from 11am to 9pm on Sundays to Thursdays, and 11am to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
There would be limited visitors of 1 person per 10 square metres of floor area, so be prepared to queue up to enter—wait, don’t bother.
Because the restaurants and the Food Market aren’t open.
Wait, what. Even the Food Market?!
Reader Bao: Then why bother opening?
Erm, for people to buy furniture?
Reader Bao: Got people go IKEA buy furniture one meh?
Good point.
IKEA told Goody Feed that the food operations are to open gradually in the next two weeks. They will be assessing the situation and depending on the number of cases and stability of the situation, they will open the food business as soon as they can.
In addition, the Smaland (playground for your little ones) will remain closed.

The Deputy Store General Manager at IKEA Tampines says, “Our IKEA stores cannot return to ‘normal’ just yet. COVID-19 remains a reality, and we all must do our part to prevent the virus from spreading.
“We will secure social distancing, masks, temperature checks and strict crowd controls. This is our time to be patient and kind with one another, and to work hand-in-hand with the good advice we are getting from health authorities. We are all in this together.”
In the meantime, the Swedish F&B giant’s online only sale will still go on as usual.
Reader Bao: Do they sell meatballs online?
No.
Reader Bao: I just wasted 2 minutes on this article.
