Say what you want about IKEA, but they do take their food seriously.

I mean, have you ever heard of an F&B place stop selling a food due to customer complaints? Rarely, right?

Although yes, some do feel that it’s a few years too late, but I’ll say better late than never. But that’s just me.

IKEA removed chicken wings off the menu

So last month, IKEA decided to take the chicken wing off their menu because even though the queue is always long at the eatery located within both outlets.

Back then, everyone thought it was a publicity stunt because it’s IKEA, right? Turns out they’re very serious about it.

They said that they made this decision due to customers’ dissatisfaction with the current chicken wings they’re selling.

They did not specify when they’ll bring the Singaporean favourite back.

The main reason why their chicken wings were no longer like the past

According to Straits Times, IKEA explained that their previous supplier of chicken wings (the ones that people complained about) were not meeting their benchmark of 100g per wing.

This, adding the fact that chicken wings shrink during the frying process, resulted in smaller chicken wings that are not as juicy like those in the past.

They added that they were using the supplier for the past 18 months before they decided to call it off.

They are currently in the process of looking for a new supplier.

For those who are worried, don’t be. This time, they’re judging the suppliers over a range of factors which includes juiciness, flavour and size of the wings.

So when will the wings be back again?

This is the most important piece of news you’d want to hear: IKEA’s iconic chicken wings could be back again within 3 months time.

Lianhe Zaobao reported that the furniture giant is confident of sourcing a new supplier and selling its chicken wings again within three months.

And the best news of all? It’ll be sold at the same price.
