It’s that time of the year again, when iPhone users (and the whole world) wait very anxiously for the next iPhone release.
You can look left and right trying to avoid any kind of news about the iPhone cuz you just DGAF but wherever you look, wherever you hide, there it is.
And it doesn’t even matter how many fantastic new phones come out on the market.
iPhone users would stick to iPhones. That is science.
The big iPhone new-generation reveal will always be one of the most anticipated events of the year, even for Android fanboys (maybe they’re looking at ways to laugh at us).
And the months leading up to it will be full of speculations and rumours and leaks.
It’s just so insanely hyped up…
The new Galaxy S9 and S9+ have been released, OnePlus 6 has also been released, the LG G7 ThinQ is due to be released, Galaxy Note 9 is coming soon and HTC just unveiled its new U12+.
But of course, the iPhone is all anyone can talk about.
And just recently, a reliable source known as Mr. White on Twitter, released an iPhone new-gen leak that has taken the Internet by storm.
And people are pretty torn over whether this is legit or not.
THE LEAK
See anything wrong with it?
See any reason why this would take the Internet world by storm?
If you don’t, let me clear things up for you.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a former analyst who is now the most accurate Apple insider, he claimed that Apple will be releasing 3 new iPhones this year – an iPhone X successor with a 5.8-inch OLED display, a larger iPhone X Plus with a 6.5-inch OLED display, and a mid-range iPhone with a 6.1-inch display.
And this speculated mid-range iPhone with the 6.1-inch display was meant to not have an OLED display.
It was meant to have an LCD display instead.
OLED is more expensive to produce and it provides better colour.
So that image that Mr White tweeted out is of the very ambiguous 3rd iPhone that was supposed to come with allegedly has an OLED display instead.
So then begs the question, who is right.
A summary lest you’re confused: Ming-Chi Kuo speculated it would be two OLED iPhones and one LCD iPhone that’s 6.1 inch.
Mr White Tweeted an image of a 6.1 inch iPhone with OLED screen.
Track Record of The Two People Who Speculated
Ming-Chi Kuo has a very impressive track record of being correct in a lot of his predictions. He’s almost always correct.
Mr White on the other hand has tweeted out both accurate and inaccurate information in times past.
So either Ming-Chi Kuo is correct in the 3rd iPhone having an LCD screen (and he usually always is right) or he’s wrong and we will see the 3rd iPhone also getting a swanky OLED screen.
Ah the mysteries of the first-world. You gotta love it.
Either way, only one person can emerge the winner.
And the winner is…*drumroll please*…always gonna be Apple!
Because who’s right or wrong doesn’t really matter at the end of the day when Apple is the one getting a big FAT paycheck at the end of the day when all these go on the market.
Because sibeh siao people will still queue up for days to get their hands on it.
Apple already so rich throw money at me instead lah!
But one thing that has been consistant is this: both speculated a 6.1 inch iPhone (whether it’s OLED or LCD lah).
That means the next iPhone is going to be gigantic
The iPhone X currently stands at 5.8 inch while the iPhone 8 Plus is at 5.5 inch.
6.1 inch means it’s way larger. And of course, not to mention the speculation of a 6.5 inch iPhone.
Just so you know, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is at 6.3 inch.
So that’ll agar agar show you how much weight iPhone is going to put on this year.
It’s widely rumoured that the new iPhones would be announced in September this year.
That’s about four months from now.
Now you know what Singaporeans are talking about today; do check back tomorrow for another piece of news of the day!
