Two Indian Nationals Arrested Over S$635 Shop Theft in Changi Airport Transit Area

Two Indian nationals were arrested on 2 Jun 2025 for allegedly stealing items worth SGD$635 from shops in Changi Airport’s transit areas. The women, aged 29 and 30, were detained within an hour of the first reported theft.

Police received an alert at around 2.25pm about a suspected theft from a Furla outlet located in the departure transit area of Terminal 3. A purse had allegedly been stolen from the store.

Officers from the Airport Police Division reviewed CCTV footage and managed to identify and locate the two suspects before they could leave Singapore. The women were detained before they could leave the country.

Items Recovered from Multiple Shops

During the arrest, officers found the stolen purse on the 29-year-old suspect.

A black haversack and a bottle of perfume, both allegedly taken without payment, were recovered from the 30-year-old suspect’s luggage.

Preliminary investigations suggest the items were stolen from different shops across Terminals 2 and 3.

The total value of the stolen merchandise was estimated at S$635.

Court Appearance and Possible Penalties

The two women are scheduled to appear in court on 10 June 2025. They will be charged with theft in dwelling under Section 380 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to seven years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.

This incident is the latest in a string of shop thefts reported at Changi Airport. In May 2025, a British national was arrested for allegedly stealing over S$2,900 worth of goods from airport retailers.

Police affirmed their commitment to working closely with stakeholders and the wider community to prevent and deter shop theft at the airport.
