Creator of Famous Indomie Mi Goreng Has Just Passed Away at the Age of 59

When it comes to dry instant noodles, Indomie Mi Goreng is one of the best in its feel.

Savoury, yet sweet and with a fragrant blend of spices, it’s been the company of many students over the years when it comes to late-night studying.

And on 27 Jan 2021, the person who brought this treasure to earth has left us.

Creator of Famous Indomie Mi Goreng Has Just Passed Away at the Age of 59

Nunuk Nuraini, the inventor of the famous Indomie Mi Goreng, passed away on 27 Jan 2021.

She was 59 years old.

Indofood, the company that produces the legendary noodles, announced her death with a short statement:

“Ibu Hajjah Nunuk Nuraini has passed away and returned peacefully to God.”

The company didn’t, however, specify the cause of her death.

A Creator Of Many Signature Indomie Flavours

According to Coconuts, Nunuk was a graduate of Padjadjaran University’s food technology department in Bandung, Indonesia.

She had worked as a flavour development manager at Indofood’s Instant Noodle Division for almost 3 decades.

During her time there, she had created several flavours well-loved by fans of the brand, including soto, rendang, chicken curry, sambal matah, as well as the original Indomie Mi Goreng.

Hailed As A ‘Hero’ In Indonesia

Indomie is enjoyed by people in more than 80 countries around the world, including Singapore.

Nunuk also enjoyed her one-minute of fame in 2017 after West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil named her the hero for the “boarding house kids”, given how the noodles are cheap, tasty and popular meals with the students.

All in all, she’s done what not many can claim to do: create a flavour of instant noodles that can bring comfort and joy to people from around the world.
