What would you do if you are forced to eat faeces (poop) by your seniors? Grab a pile of sh*t and hurl it into their faces, most probably.
That’s if your ‘senior’ even dares to shove it in your face.
Unfortunately for these students from a school in Indonesia, their seniors did do it. And they ate it.

Here’s What Happened
This incident reportedly happened at a seminary junior high school in Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia on 19 Feb 2020.
Two senior students found faeces in one of the empty cupboards in the students’ dormitory.
Furious, they brought the junior students in for questioning.
Don’t Want To Admit? Fine. Now, Eat it.
When they asked for the students to confessed who did it, nobody stepped forward.
Enraged, they decided to punish all of them instead.
One of the seniors took out a spoon and fed the junior students spoonful of faeces.
Afraid, the junior students obeyed their seniors. It was reported that 77 out of the 89 students from the seventh grade ate the disgusting faeces.
Don’t Tell Your Parents Or The School
When the ‘punishment’ ended, the seniors threatened the students, telling them not to tell anyone about what they did.

Unfortunately (for the seniors), one of them went home and told his parents.
Enraged, the matter was promptly brought up in a WhatsApp group handled by the school’s public relation officer.
Actually…They Didn’t Exactly “Eat” it
How do you think the school will react? Grovel and apologise? Nope.
The school principal responded to the issue, and his point of contention was with the word “eat”.
According to the principal, the students didn’t eat faeces. The faeces merely “touched” their lips and mouths.

The principal also added that reports about the incident were “inaccurate”.
But on the bright side, the school did apologise for the incident and has expelled the two senior students from the school.
They have also provided counselling and guidance for the affected students.
The Ospek Culture in Indonesia
Most, if not all of you, reading this would be wondering: how could such a thing happen today?
Except for Korea, Japan, and a few other countries, most do not follow the culture of seniority anymore.

Well, turns out that in Indonesia, the culture of seniority is still strong, partly caused by the Ospek (school orientation) tradition in Indonesian schools.
During orientation, senior students are given full authority in how they treat freshman students.
This helps to create a culture where people have to “respect” you because of your seniority.
The Ospek culture has raised waves among parents and a few students have even died from said orientations.
Now, it’s no wonder that these students are afraid to fight back, isn’t it?
Remember, bullying is bad and it’s not tolerated here in Singapore. So if you are a victim of bullying, don’t be afraid to speak up.
