Someone might have gotten the wrong memo.
Instead of hailing our delivery men and women as heroes of the pandemic, as they risk their lives to make sure that we receive our daily necessities, this lady did a complete 180 and pasted a note to insult these hardworking people instead.
As a result, it’s unsurprising that this flat owner ended up on a blacklist that is shared among delivery personnel.
Flat Owner Pastes Insulting Note at Door to Delivery Personnel Who Delivers her Package
According to a 30-year-old salesman, Mr Wang, his friend who works as a delivery personnel had delivered two packages to this infamous lady.
Both times were bad experiences for him.
The first time, the flat owner was at home when the friend was there with her package.
However, right after she opened the door, she immediately started scolding the friend, demanding to know why he’s leaving dirty shoeprints on her doorstep.
The friend was taken aback by the sudden outburst but he didn’t argue and just left after doing his job.
The second time around, the friend noticed a brand-new note pasted on her door, warning delivery personnel to not step on her doorstep.
In the note, the lady even insulted the delivery people as being “dirty” and a “jerk”.
Naturally, this angered the friend so he decided to just leave the package at her door.
Surprise surprise, he still ended up getting a complaint from the same lady for stepping on her doorstep – which he didn’t, by the way – and leaving the package at her front door.
Befuddled, Mr Wang stated that “How is it possible to deliver a package without standing on the doorstep and knocking on the door?”
“The delivery people are doing the best they can under the circumstances and she’s insulting these hardworking people for no legitimate reason,” he added.
Germaphobia made worse by the pandemic
The flat owner’s neighbours suspect the lady might be a germaphobe.
Her next-door neighbour, 49-year-old housewife, Mdm Xie, said that ever since the pandemic started, the lady would use disinfectant to clean the corridor in front of her house at 10pm every night.
The reporter from LianHe WanBao (联合晚报) who was dispatched to the site also noticed that the constant use of disinfectant on the corridor in front of the flat owner’s house has worn down the cement, left marks on the floor, and made the corridor stink of disinfectant.
She filed multiple complaints to the delivery companies and Police before
The reporter also interviewed the infamous lady herself to get her side of the story.
The lady, Vanessa, claimed that the shoes of the delivery personnel are often muddy, and they always leave the mud on her doorstep.
They even left the package on top of the muddy prints, dirtying the package itself too.
“I’ve sent in several complaints to the online shopping platform, but the delivery people still do this. I was so angry, I ended up reporting the incidences to the police online and filed a complaint with the delivery company.”
After multiple incidences, she couldn’t take it anymore and decided to paste the note on her door.
When asked about her insulting note, she defended her action stating that she was simply scolding those few delivery people who often send her packages and warning them not to dirty her doorstep or the package they are delivering.
She also hopes that the delivery people would take the package back if she’s not at home and attempt the delivery the next day.
Blacklisted
Her neighbour, Mdm Xie, said that the lady usually doesn’t leave the house often, as much of the stuff she needs, she buys them online. That’s why she was getting so many packages every day.
Many delivery people have also complained to Mdm Xie before, saying that they dread delivering her packages.
Unfortunately, they have no choice but to do so.
The only thing they could do is to add her name to an unofficial blacklist, warning other delivery personnel to be careful of this lady – not that it does much beyond that though.
