ION Orchard Swensen’s With Ice Cream & Dessert Buffet Closing Down on 1 Jan 2019

For years, I’ve been carrying a baggage far heavier than my own bodyweight.

Love troubles.

Foot insecurities.

Dinner worries.

All of them have combined into one, to form a weight that outweighs any army field pack, and perhaps even the great expectations of one’s mum, which anyone would know to be pretty darn heavy.

And I won’t lie; I damn near broke down on multiple occasions. But I soldiered on, constantly adding new stuff to my ever-increasing load, because throughout it all there was one thing keeping me alive.

Ion Orchard Swensen’s Ice-cream Buffet.

With its wide assortment of ice-cream flavours, snack selections and mouth-watering cakes, it was truly one to die for. Add in the notion that the buffet comes at just $19.90++ and you pretty much got me hooked line and sinker.

As long as this ice-cream buffet doesn’t abandon me, I thought, I can do this.

Or at least that’s what I thought. For as it turns out…

It just wasn’t meant to be.

Ill-fated

If you’re like me and love Swensen’s Ice-cream buffet like the little brother you never had, you might want to prepare some tissues, because…

The restaurant is announcing its impending closure.

Indeed, mere words can’t represent how sad I am right now… and had my colleague not been there for me I would’ve surely done something stupid.

Like not washing my hands after using the toilet. Cos I’m so sad.

And it seems that over in the comments section, Netizens are drowning in tears too.

And more tears.

I never thought that I will ever say it, but for the first time ever…

I’m not looking forward to the new year.

Someone start a petition for Swensens to cease closure already!

Memory Lane

In some religions, it’s believed that just before you die, you kind of experience a flashback episode where everything you’ve done, from birth to death, plays out in a movie format before you.

And really, while Swensens Ion Orchard isn’t exactly a human being, I feel that the least I could do for it is to take its hand…

And take a walk down memory lane with it.

All of that’s gonna be gone come 1 January 2019.
