While you were enjoying the two days of Chinese New Year holidays, Iris Koh was spending a little time away from society after her request to be released on bail was rejected.
This came as much of a dismay to her husband, Raymond Ng, who released a tearful 10-minute long video (attached with a script and all) explaining the situation revolving around his wife.
Denies Accusation of Falsified Vaccination Status
Ng started off with an introduction of himself as Iris’ husband before stating that she had been charged with Section 417 of the Penal Code.
For those unacquainted with it, it states that whoever cheats shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 years, or with fine, or with both.
He mentioned that he had read the charge sheet the night before after their lawyers retrieved a copy from the Singapore Police Force (SPF).
However, he declined to share it, claiming it may contravene sub judice rule under the Court of Law and opted to stay with the data that was cleared for release by the SPF. Well, at least he is sensible enough.
Ever the loving husband, Ng said, “It is unthinkable that my dear wife, Iris, would be accused of cheating the Ministry of Health (MOH) with falsified vaccination status.” He added that she is not a medical professional and does not have any access to systems that allow her to update patient statuses.
Quite exasperatedly, he questioned, “How could she have known what kind of secret fake-vaccination deal that they might have discussed in private? How could she have conspired when she could not have possibly been a part of those secret discussions?”
Claims Iris is a Patriot
Moving on, Ng claimed that Iris is a patriot. He added, “She loves the country and her fellow countrymen so much that she can tolerate being ridiculed for what she does.”
He clarified that the intention of the group ‘Healing the Divide’ was to bridge the divide between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated. Determinedly, he stated, “It is not an anti vax group”.
Late last year, Singapore implemented new measures that required unvaccinated employees to have a valid Antigen Rapid Test (ART) or Pre-Event Test (PET) before returning to the workplace. According to Ng, Iris quickly worked with Dr Jipson to provide a service in which PET tests could be performed remotely.
He stated that her intent was “merely to ensure that all Singaporeans who needed help with the PET tests could get it so that they may get to protect their jobs”. Once again, Ng painted his wife as a patriot, saying, “Her intent stems from the love of her country – Singapore.” Ok Raymond, we got it.
But he didn’t just stop there.
Ng added, “In fact, her love for her country was so intense that she was willing to bring her government to the court of law.” In doing so, Iris “wishes to free Singaporeans from the irrationality of the vaccine policy.”

Protecting Healing the Divide Volunteers
According to Ng, Iris’ phone and computer contain privileged communication with their lawyers about judicial review on the government. As such, SPF cannot see the content of the devices notebook even though the hardware is now in police custody.
Supposedly, the phone and computer also contain evidence that could help her and would clear Iris of her charges as Ng claims it reveals she never had any intent to cheat MOH.
Putting himself in her shoes, Ng said, “In her mind, she feels that the government may be targeting her and Healing the Divide without just cause.”
He added in her mind once again, “She would also not want her volunteers to be harassed unnecessarily as a result of being involved with Healing the Divide” and “she would rather be charged and not let the identity of her volunteers be known”. What a sacrificial leader.
Law-abiding Citizens
Ng said he hopes that the government would just investigate the matter at hand, and not target people in Healing the Divide who are just voicing out their disagreements in a manner that is compliant with the law. He added that Iris in her mind “has to protect while assuming the worst of the government”.
“Although Iris disagrees in principle with MOH with regards to vaccine policies, Iris is on the same page with MOH on one thing—the respect for the rule of law,” Ng stated. He maintained that cheating MOH of one’s vaccination status is legally wrong.
According to him, Iris is planning to bring MOH via judicial review and contest in the Court of Law regarding the vaccine policy.
Tearful Husband’s Plea
Here is where the tissues come in.
Ng said he understands the need for the investigation but when it concerns his dear wife Iris, he “cannot help but to feel sad for her”. Sniffs. Ng said Iris has been a music teacher for decades, bringing happiness and music to Singaporeans.
He appealed to police officers to listen to her despite her bad temper and added that he hopes they feel what he feels, that “she loves her country too much, she loves her countrymen too much. It is impossible for anyone to feel that she has nefarious intentions.”
Cue more sniffles because it gets even more touching here.
Ng said part of the country sees her as a heroine and the others see her as a nuisance. But to him, “she is my wife. She has not been home for six days. My home is not home when she is not around – the home loses its purpose without my wife.” Aww Raymond, you are making this too difficult.
He added, “There has never been any continuous two days I don’t see her on our bed. In the last five days I had not been able to say goodnight to her.” In an almost poetic statement, he said, “We are both connected emotionally but separated by law.”
Concluding, Ng made a final plea to Singaporeans, maintaining that Iris had good intentions from the start and does not deserve all the gloating and enemies. He added that he will update more on the situation soon.
Well, that was quite the dramatic display, but who are we to stop a loving husband from protecting his wife? We can only watch as more is revealed to us.
