It’s December! And you know what that means…
YES. And also, for Singapore…
Rain. Lots and lots of rain. Which also means…
It’s the cuddle weather season! Time to snuggle up with your pets, teddy bears, chou chou or your significant other and CUDDLE!
You Can Expect There To Be Rain Every Day
According to AccuWeather, it is going to be raining every day from now until the second week of January.
Temperatures are predicted to range from 24°C to 31°C in the next few weeks.
However, do note that weather forecasts may not always be accurate.
But it’s better to be safe than sorry! Plan beach activities at your own risk and do carry around an umbrella… unless you want to get drenched in the rain.
Cool Chilly Weather
While it might not be cool for the rain to ruin your beach plans, it’s definitely nice to experience a change from the usual hot sweltering weather that would leave you drenched in sweat to the cooling, time-to-flex-your-hoodie weather in Singapore.
Earlier this month on 2 December, temperatures dropped to 21.4°C in the northern part of Singapore, specifically Admiralty.
And as someone who stays at Admiralty, I can confirm that the weather that day was definitely fit for a hot bowl of soup.
This was lower than the expected forecast of 22 to 30°C by the National Environment Agency’s Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS).
Wet Phase Of The North-East Monsoon Season
The Northeast Monsoon season has a wet phase that typically happens between December and January and a dry phase, usually occurring between February and March.
During this wet season, the monsoon rain band brings increased cloudiness and rain showers over Singapore and the surrounding region.
“Monsoon surges” can bring several days of widespread continuous rain across the country.
According to MSS, colder weather is forecasted partly due to the moderate to heavy thundery showers expected here.
Not Enough To Beat Lowest Temperature This Year
This comes after temperatures in Yishun fell to 21.8°C at 1am a few months back on 3 October this year.
However, the lowest recorded temperature so far this year was 20.8 deg C on 5 May in the eastern part of the country.
Making Up For The Hottest November In History
The now rainy and chilly weather is a contrast to the weather in November. November 2019 was likely to be the warmest November with the highest daily maximum temperature recorded as 34.4 deg C on 17 November.
The previous record for the highest daily maximum temperature was 34.2 deg C, recorded on 26 November 2000.
Now that the rainy season is finally here, have fun and enjoy the rainy season before it’s over!
