It’s Still Going to Be Hot For the First 2 Weeks of August

If you love the rain, I’ve got bad news for you.

But if you love walking around without having to carry an umbrella? Heh, you’re going to love August 2019, baby.

Hot & Dry Conditions To Persist In First Two Weeks of August

According to the Meteorological Service of Singapore (MSS), the hot and dry conditions we’ve been experiencing in the second part of July will continue.

And it will continue until Oct 2019.

The MSS forecast that the conditions during these two weeks will be drier than the last two weeks of July.

However, don’t think there’ll be no rain.

The weathermen ask Singaporeans to be ready for “localised short-duration thundery showers” on four to five days of the week.

Thundery showers with strong winds might occur in the morning on one or two days.

It’ll Be Windier Though

The monsoon rain band is predicted to maintain its position over the northern Southeast Asia region.

Dry air from high-pressure systems in the southern hemisphere will occasionally intrude during the fortnight.

They’re expecting the winds from these high-pressure systems to strengthen, which will bring about breezy conditions on some days in Singapore.

And we’re going to need this because

Temperature Expected To Be Just As Warm

The last two weeks were terrible, with warm days and equally warm nights.

And MSS has forecast that the temperature will remain within the same range for the next two weeks:

  • Daily temperature over Singapore: Between 26°C and 33°C, could hit 34°C on some days.
  • The temperature at night: Expect a minimum of 28°C on some nights

Possibility of Haze

Singapore is considered the gem of Southeast Asia for a few reasons:

  • Our safety and security
  • The stability of the country
  • Protected against natural disasters because the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia tank the hits for us

But there’s one thing the surrounding countries can’t protect us from: the haze.

With the warm weather comes a risk: forest fires breaking out in Indonesia.

Hotspots in centra Sumatra and southern Kalimantan were detected recently with smoke plumes.

And depending on the wind direction, we may experience occasional haze in August 2019.

Moral Of The Story:

  • Wear light, breathable clothes but bring a jacket or cardigan along.
  • Bring an umbrella out in your bag.
  • Be prepared to turn on the aircon at night
  • Stock up on N95 masks

Stay safe, everyone, and we’ll update the weather news for you again in two weeks time.
