IV Needle With Blood Found At Tampines Playground; Parents Told To Be Vigilant

Playgrounds were a safe haven, where I could run around freely without my parents worrying that I’d break all the furniture at home.

It’s disheartening to find out that playgrounds are no longer quite as ‘safe’ these days. At least not this particular Tampines Playground.

Intravenous Cannula (IV) Needle At A Playground In Tampines

An Intra what?

Basically, it’s an IV needle, you know, the needle they poke your vein with in the hospital to deliver fluids.

Yup, Muhammad Alamin posted a picture of a needle he found at the playground near Blk 207 Tampines Street 21 on Facebook. The post has since been shared 1.9k times.

As to how the needle even got there is another question altogether.

But wait, that’s not even the worst part. To this man’s horror, the IV needle even had dried blood in it.

Yup, it really can’t get worse than this.

Possible Dangers

Muhammad Alamin pointed out that a curious child might pick the IV needle up and play with it. A child might’ve even accidentally stepped on it, or pricked themselves with it.

The list of horrifying ‘what ifs’ could go on forever.

Some netizens really did imagine the worst: What if that user of the IV needle had AIDS.

While another speculated that the IV needle user ran away from the hospital. This one probably watched too much Netflix.

Another netizen notified the relevant authorities such as the police, the town council and the nearest childcare centre to warn them to take extra precautions.

Parents Warned To Stay Vigilant

The world is a scary place. If you’re heading out and about with your kids, always be cautious because not every public space is 100% safe.

Muhammad Alamin also shared that used condoms were among the other things he found at playgrounds. Yuck.

I know some people say you don’t need much space to do it but don’t take it literally lah.

Whatever it is, it never hurts to be careful. After all, you never know what monstrosities lurk in the corner.
