It would appear that group altercations here are on the rise.
The recent Holland V incident. The testosterone-filled Princep Street fight in December last year. And of course, the catfight that had gone down in Jalan Sultan.
One would think that considering these tumultuous times, individuals would tie up their hair, look in the mirror and go, “Alright, time to get my shit together!”
But like all things, it appears that reality can get rather heated at times.
Jalan Sultan Fight Left 19YO Injured; 5 Were Arrested
In December 2020, Jalan Sultan was shaken to its very core.
A fight had erupted between separate groups of men and women, as they sought to tussle with one another as fiercely as possible.
The women, in particular, could be seen scuffling as they shout every vulgarity known to mankind.
Seven people ended up getting arrested.
Suffice to say; it was an experience that Uncle Jalan Sultan wouldn’t be telling its grandkids anytime soon.
Yet, just when the waters have calmed and the trees have ceased swaying, another incident has emerged on Jalan Sultan soil.
Much to its chagrin, I’m sure.
On 20 September 2021, the police was alerted to a fight at Block 19 Jalan Sultan, at around 1:30am.
“Upon police’s arrival, a 19-year-old man was found with lacerations on his head, upper body and hand,” the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said.
By then, the assailants responsible for the assault had escaped and a knife was found. For the time being.
Between 20 and 22 September 2021, the police would be hard at work tracking down possible suspects. And by 22 September, five suspects aged between 17 and 22 have been hauled in: three men and two women.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
“The police will not tolerate such brazen acts of violence and blatant disregard of the law,” said SPF.
“We will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.”
One particular suspect, a 19-year-old man, will be charged today (23 September 2021) for voluntarily causing serious harm with a dangerous weapon.
If found guilty, he could potentially face life imprisonment, or up to 15 years’ imprisonment, a fine and caning.
Jalan Sultan
And apparently, those aren’t the only two fights to go down in Jalan Sultan history either.
Back in 2017, a part-time KTV hostess had been kicked repeatedly in the face by a colleague.
The colleague, Siti Zahara, had kicked with a pair of stiletto heels measuring around 14.5cm. The heel eventually jabbed the victim’s eye, causing it to pop out in the process.
The victim suffered left-eye permanent blindness as a result.
