Losing weight and achieving your ideal body is definitely not an easy task.
I’ve never been able to commit to a workout routine or a healthy diet for more than a week. Sad, but true, story.
There’s just too much junk food in this world to say no to.
However, a Japanese man, known as Hiragii Sensei, was determined to get in shape, and he managed to lose 13kg in the short span of 5 months.
But here’s the interesting part. He managed to do it by exercising for only 4 minutes a day.
WHAAAAAT?
And by being on a healthy diet, of course.
Losing 13kg In 5 Months
Hiragi shared two photos of himself on the 25 August, one taken in March 2019 and one taken in August 2019.
His transformation is almost unbelievable, considering the fact that he managed to accomplish it in just five months.
“I only did my strength training at home and achieved this much. Photos are taken at the same place and almost the same angle. No filters or edits! I’m using my Apple Watch which is why I’m posing like that,” he wrote.
Hiragii also shared that he had actually wanted to lose weight for the past two years, but he was never able to keep to his diet for more than 3 days. However, this time, he set himself a clear and reasonable goal, which motivated him and made him determined to achieve it.
The Tabata Workout
His 4-minute daily workout included squats, burpees, push-ups and ab rollers to help him get a toned body. So many of the things I hate in one sentence.
This workout is commonly referred to as the Tabata workout. A Japanese expert first came up with it, and it’s basically an exercise routine that involves brief but high-intensity training.
He Was Also On A Diet
Apart from doing the workout daily, Hiragii also watched his meals and calorie intake carefully. He made sure that he only consumed 1,000 to 1,500 calories per day and he also ate more vegetables instead of meat and carbohydrates.
He ate two meals a day, between 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and avoided all fatty foods like desserts, sweet drinks, and snacks.
His meals were mainly salad with salmon, tuna or avocado seasoned with salt, pepper, and olive oil. He also only drank green tea, water and black coffee.
However, he did admit that he had his cheat days once in a while, where he gave in to his cravings for bubble tea, grilled meat, or curry rice.
Hiragii mentioned that it’s important to be determined and consistent because it takes a lot of effort to be disciplined.
“Whether you want to be greedy now or become a better you for the future, that’s your choice,” he said.
Okay, I feel personally attacked.
I do want to be greedy now but…hmm, he does have a point.
I guess working out for 4 minutes a day and cutting down on some of all my favourite foods will be painful but probably worth it in the end.
After all, we all know how the saying goes. No pain, no gain, am I right?
