Are you a die-hard Jay Chou fanatic? Because if you are, I’ve some jay-tastic news for you.
The Singapore F1 Grand Prix is coming up, and as every year’s edition would invariably do, the race organisor has roped in various musical artists to grace the stage for some good rollicking fun.
So who’s involved in this year’s run? Well…
For starters, how about the undisputed king of Mandopop?
That’s right; Jay Chou will be part of this year’s medley!
In case you’re not aware, Jay Chou has just released a single on 14 May 2018, “If You Don’t Love Me, It’s Fine”, and it went up to the trending chart in YouTube (ar bo then), only to be dethroned by none other than Yanny or Laurel (it’s Yanny BTW)
(Editor’s note: It’s Laurel lah).
Over here in Goody Feed, we’re such a Jay Chou fan that in a collaboration with the Singapore Police Force to raise awareness for online scams, we did a music video based on an Ah Chou’s song. Here, take a look:
(Since you’re here, subscribe to our YouTube Channel for more informative videos lah)
So what are the exact deets, and who are the other class acts performing in this year’s Grand Prix? Without further ado…
Let’s find out.
2018 Singapore F1 Grand Prix concert line-up
Of course, Jay Chou isn’t the only one who’s coming.
Jay Chou, The Killers and Liam Gallagher are among an array of confirmed acts for 14 September to 16 September.
Chou will take center stage on Friday (14 Sep), The Killers and Liam Gallagher on Saturday (15 Sep) and Martin Garrix and Dua Lipa on Sunday (16 Sep).
Other acts include
- Simply Red
- Young Fathers
- The Sugarhill Gang
- ABBA tribute act Björn Again
- Sekai no Owari
Our own local artists will be gracing the stage too, with the likes of Joanna Dong, Abby Simone x MMLD, Matte Blacc and more expected to perform.
Yeah, Joanna Dong, who just blew us away with her vocal in the latest NDP 2018 Theme Song.
Other local artists include
- M1LDLIFE
- MYRNE
- EATMEPOPTART
- Miss Lou
- EMONIGHTSG
- Abby Simone X MMLD
- Picks
- Matte Blacc
Jay Chou with Joanna Dong?!
Incidentally, it’s rumoured that Dong will share a stage with Chou. Now that will be an interesting sight, seeing how Chou took on the role as her coach on Sing!China last year.
And to round things up, a medley of smaller international acts have also been announced: European and African-based collective Afro Celt Sound System, House Gospel Choir from the UK, Indonesian folk-pop duo Stars and Rabbit, Chinese DJ Lizzy Wang, and Boys in the Band from Australia.
Looks like we’re in for a whole lot of great musical fun, huh?
Pity about the next point though.
GIMME THE TICKETS
As every year’s edition invariably does, you gotta purchase tickets because there’s really no free show in this world (unless you count flashers, but I don’t think they are exactly concert sell-outs).
However, you will be glad to know that more single-day ticket options will be available this year. Other than the Padang Grandstand and the Pit Grandstand, there are also Bay Grandstand tickets.
And did I mention slashed prices? There will be discounts for Singapore residents on a restricted number of Friday Zone 4 Walkabout tickets, which will be marketed at exclusive promotional price of S$38. In case you’re wondering, that’s more than 50 percent off the usual price of $78.
Talk about a steal.
For $38, you get to hear Jay Chou sing IRL. Together with Joanna Dong.
Just so you know, the cheapest Jay Chou concert ticket is $128.
ENOUGH OF THE BULLSHIT. WHERE CAN I BUY THEM?
Alright, geez, chill. You can get the tickets over-the-counter at Sistic outlets and they are available now.
Remember, the Singapore F1 Grand Prix will happen from 14 to 16 September.
So what are you waiting for? Get your tickets now, especially if your idols are among the performing mix!
See you there!
Oh, wait. Maybe not. I don’t even have $18 in my bank account now.
