Last year, when we wrote about Capital 21, a large thematic shopping mall in JB that’s going to be opened this year, everyone was enthusiastic, sharing the article and tagging their friends with excitement.
At 1.5 million sq ft (that’s about the size of Vivo City), it’s supposed to be opened in August this year.
But things happened, and our goldfish memory wiped this shopping mall off our mind.
However, a wise man once said, “You can forget about a project, but the project will still be built.”
Just think of the HSR – I mean, Capital 21.
Because as we all went apeshit over a certain T-shirt that could hook chicken rice, the mall has made an announcement.
Capital 21, JB’s Largest Thematic Mall with Southeast Asia’s Largest Indoor Theme Park
Just for your info, Paradigm Mall JB is still larger at 2 million sq ft, but this mall is the largest thematic mall in JB.
And if the above sentence has not “wowed” you, then read this: the mall has different distinct zones by using elements from different continents such as America, Europe, Asia, Middle East and Australia.
Just think of Jurong Point’s Hong Kong Street, but amplify it to almost the entire mall. That’s why it’s also called the Thematic Mall, because #themes
No doubt it’s perfect for Instagram.
Just take a look at the American theme…
…the Asia theme…
…and this IG-worthy Middle East theme
Yeah, you can “travel around the world” in just one mall.
Guess it’s really giving give Paradigm Mall a run for its money.
Located just 20 minutes’ drive from Singapore, you might be wondering if it’s okay to drive there. But here, take a look at its floor plan:
With six levels of car park, I’m sure parking won’t be an issue – although finding your car after you’ve parked might.
Largest Indoor Theme Park in Southeast Asia
What makes this mall unique isn’t just its size, but the simple fact that it has the largest indoor theme park in Southeast Asia.
Meh.
Meh? Wait, that’s lit.
Touted as the fifth largest indoor theme park in the world, it will take up the third and fourth levels of the mall with its three main sections: Movie Planet, Cartoon Planet and Music Planet.
The first section is perfect for thrill seekers as it will feature rides such as Dinosaur World, Transformers and Haunted House.
The Cartoon Planet is catered more to the children, featuring “kiddy attractions” and animated characters, including Tom and Jerry.
To make things more exciting, both the aforementioned planets will use “augmented reality and virtual reality”.
Last but not least, the Music Planet will be featuring musical, circus and theatrical acts.
And on its opening day, expect something exciting because I think I see an orange cat.
Yippee.
Opening on 17 October 2018
Yeah, the initial plan was to open in August 2018, but now, it’s confirmed to be opening on 17 October 2018.
And just so you know, there’ll be a Starbucks outlet…
…a Burger Bandit outlet (I don’t know what it is but the cheesey burger looks LIT)…
…and, erm, a shop that makes glasses.
I might be wrong, but the name Capital 21 might have be changed to Capital City. Just take a look at the logo changes in their Facebook Page:
Regardless of the name, one thing’s for sure: I foresee some people taking leave on 17 October 2018.
If so, all the best in the jam lah hor.
(I wonder why they have to open during a weekday -_-)
