The common thing people usually do when they meet an inconsiderate driver would be to rant about it on social media. Sometimes accompanied by a photo of what angered them.
It’s not uncommon but you also see people write notes to the inconsiderate people about their parking problems.
This is one of my favourite ones from 2019:
And in case you’re wondering, yes, that IS a condom that the citizen gave along with the note.
But you hardly come across angry people who would deliberately scratch someone else’s car just to tell them that their parking skills suck.
Well, obviously someone did.
Frustrated Driver Scratched Door Of Car That Was Park Too Closely To His Car in JEM
The culprit, 57-year-old Tan Eng Ann was fined $700 on Monday (Sept 28) for one count of mischief over the incident at the basement car park of Jem shopping mall, according to Today.
The victim, a 28-year-old man, had driven to Jem for dinner with his family at about 7.10pm on March 8 this year.
He parked his vehicle to the right of Tan’s car, and beside the pillar.
At about 8.20pm, Tan returned to his car with several plastic bags.
He managed to place the bags in the back seat but had a problem getting into the driver’s seat because the two cars are parked too closely together.
Frustrated, Tan decided to do something to vent his displeasure.
He took out an unidentified object to scratch both left doors of the victim’s vehicle before leaving.
While excessive, it sounds like a legitimate reason, right?
Except, there’s a plot twist to this entire incident.
Victim Had Parked Properly
Turns out, Tan was the one who had poor parking skills.
It was reported that Tan’s car was close to the rightmost boundaries of his lot, with the front right wheel on the white boundary line whereas the victim’s car was “well within the parking lot”.
In other words, instead of blaming himself for anyhowly parking, Tan vented his anger on the victim’s vehicle. which led to the start of this entire case.
Could Have Been Worse
When the victim came back to discover the scratches, he made a police report and paid $350 for the damages.
Tan reimbursed the victim after pleading guilty earlier this month.
CNA reports that for committing mischief, he could have been jailed for up to two years, fined, or both.
That’s why people always tell you, before you say others, look at yourself first.
