When it comes to the legends of the 90s, Jet Li is one awe-inspiring figure you wouldn’t miss.
After all, Shu Qi was the dream girlfriend of us 90s kids, and Jet Li, the guy that we want to be.
So when he was photographed in public last year looking like this….
…we were like, omg, what happened to our idol?! He’s supposed to grow old but not that fast!
But his manager, Steven Chasman, said that “Li is in great condition”, calling the online rumours “much ado about nothing”.
He is not suffering from any life-devastating illness and is dealing with it.
Chasman claimed that it was just one picture and cannot be taken as a representation of his condition.
He added that even if his own picture was taken at a bad angle and the wrong time of the day, he’ll look frail as well.
However, it was found out that Jet Li has been combating hyperthyroidism since 2013.
Even after he took medicine, “it just kept coming back”.
But he did promise to combat the illness and come back better than ever.
Which, coming from a star who’s been dominating the screens with kicks, punches and his amazing good looks, is pretty assuring.
But then again, seeing is believing.
And despite what anybody says, we’re still all (deep down) worried about the health of the Romeo Must Die male lead.
But like they said, seeing is believing.
Enter Jet Li of 2019
Here’s how he look like right now.
With hair that’s once again black, stylish round-rimmed glasses and a dark-blue denim jacket.
So. Much. Better.
He was spotted talking with legendary figure, Jack Ma, at at the 2018 Rural Teacher Awards, an event launched by the Jack Ma Foundation, in Sanya, Hainan province.
Jet Li Acting In Mulan Live Action Movie Cuz Of His Daughters
So, if you hadn’t known, Jet Li will be acting in the live action movie of Mulan.
And in an interview, he revealed that he had rejected the project at first.
However, his daughter, then-15-year-old Jada, asked him if he needed money. He said no.
Then she asked, “When a company like Disney wants to make a movie about Chinese culture, why don’t you take part in it?”
And his elder daughter, Jana, agreed.
So he accepted the project.
He had stopped chasing after fame and fortune, and instead, started going for projects that he felt was meaningful to him.
Like this movie back in 2010.
Aww.
