Singaporean Mandopop singer JJ Lin dropped a bombshell during his final concert at Beijing’s National Stadium on Sunday evening (13 Jul 2025). The 44-year-old revealed he had been diagnosed with a heart condition in Apr 2024.

The announcement came during his ninth show at the venue, also known as the Bird’s Nest. This concert marked the end of his “JJ20 Final Lap World Tour”, an extension of the “JJ20 World Tour” started in 2022 to celebrate his 20th anniversary in the music industry.
Singer Shares Emotional Response to Heart Diagnosis
Lin told the packed audience that he was “shocked by the news” when he received his diagnosis. “Never did I imagine that this would happen to me,” he said.
The condition requires him to take medication daily, according to media reports. Lin described the moment he learned about his health issue with raw honesty.
“At that moment, I felt for the first time that life was slipping away, and the question of how long I could continue to sing became very real,” he shared with fans.
Despite the diagnosis, Lin expressed his determination to continue performing. “But I told myself that even if my heart were to lose its rhythm, I would continue to work hard,” he declared.
He thanked his fans for travelling from around the world to watch him perform in over a hundred concerts. “I believe that, through my efforts and those of my team, everything that we hope to achieve will not disappoint you,” Lin promised.
The singer acknowledged external criticism but chose to focus on his music and fans. “No matter how well we do, there will always be trouble; these noises hiding in the corner. I’m not blind or deaf to these, but I choose to laugh it off and continue to do what I do,” he said.
Fans Notice Physical Signs During Recent Performances
Netizens have poured in their well wishes on Weibo following Lin’s revelation. During Sunday’s concert, fans observed him appearing tearful and in pain at one point, though he continued singing after regaining his composure.
Some fans spotted a wrist strap on his right hand during recent tour stops. The device is speculated to be a heart rate monitor used to track his condition.
Lin was also seen clutching his stomach during the Beijing show, adding to concerns about his health.
The singer expressed deep gratitude to his fan club, known as Lin Ju Li, which translates to “JJ’s Distance” or “JMs” for short. “We have cried and laughed together, grown together, and evolved into better people together. You will always be my closest music family. I love you,” he told them..
He also thanked his family, friends and colleagues for their support through his highs and lows. “I, Lin Jun Jie, will remember this love for the rest of my life,” he concluded.
Lin’s management company, JFJ Productions, confirmed the singer undergoes regular check-ups and will take a break after completing the world tour.
