Hundreds of fans at Universal Studios Singapore went from screaming in adoration into gasping in shock on 13 Nov 2025, when an Australian national jumped the barricade and rushed towards Ariana Grande during the Wicked: For Good premiere.

Johnson Wen, 25, appeared to put his arm around the pop star in a tight hug before security intervened.

Multiple videos of the incident went viral globally. Grande recoiled in shock as Wen grabbed her around the shoulders at the yellow carpet event held at Resorts World Sentosa.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo, with whom Grande shares a special sisterhood in the film, instinctively forced herself between Grande and the intruder. Security guards quickly apprehended the man and later tossed him back over the barricade.

Some fans near him protested loudly, chiding the guard for being too rough. The rest of the cast, including Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum, quickly huddled around Grande to check if she was okay before continuing with their walk on the yellow carpet to greet fans and sign autographs.
Footage that made its rounds online later appeared to show Wen being escorted out of the venue by security. A source told The Straits Times that he was arrested after leaving Sentosa.
Johnson Wen’s History as “Troll Most Hated” Event Crasher
This wasn’t Wen’s first rodeo. The Australian national is a serial intruder who has disrupted numerous high-profile concerts and sporting events across the globe.
He goes by the handle @pyjamamann on Instagram, where his bio describes himself as the “2023 World Cup Final Pitch Invader” and “Troll Most Hated”. His Instagram account includes a link to solicit donations to pay his bills, without elaborating what bills these were.
A GoFundMe page was set up where he asked supporters for donations to “pay off all my bills”. The first post on his account, dated 9 Nov 2020, shows him screaming and running up a table in an unidentified mall before doing the floss dance move.
Wen’s recent disruptions include jumping on stage during Katy Perry’s concert in 9 June. He also crashed The Weeknd’s Melbourne show in October 2024.
His antics have taken him to sporting events as well, including the men’s 100m final at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Previous incidents also include the FIFA Women’s World Cup Final and the men’s Cricket World Cup Final in India in 2023.
In an interview with Australian TV news outlet 9News on 10 Jun 2025, Wen was said to be unemployed and living at a backpackers’ hostel. He was banned from Accor Stadium in Sydney after intruding on stage during The Weeknd’s concert in October 2024.
Wen had racked up an estimated A$20,000 (~S$17,000) in fines, the news channel reported. Following his stunt at Perry’s concert, Wen promised that it would be his last brush with the law.
His latest antics in Singapore proved otherwise. After the incident, Wen posted on Instagram stories that he was “free” and declared that he had “finally met Ariana Grande”.

Court Charges and Potential Penalties for Public Nuisance
Wen’s name appeared in the Integrated Case Management System and he was scheduled to appear at the State Courts at 8.45am on 14 Nov 2025. He faces charges of public nuisance.
For committing an act of public nuisance, knowing that this act would cause annoyance to the public, he can be jailed for up to three months, fined up to S$2,000, or both. He could also be deported and barred from entering Singapore.
The incident is particularly concerning given Grande’s well-documented history with trauma. Grande has previously spoken about her struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety following a bombing at her Manchester concert in May 2017, which left 22 people dead.
“I’ve always had anxiety,” she told British Vogue in 2018. “I’ve never really spoken about it because I thought everyone had it, but when I got home from tour (in September 2017), it was the most severe I think it’s ever been.”
Wicked: For Good‘s 13 Nov premiere at the theme park in Resorts World Sentosa was the only Asian stop in the film’s international promotional tour that ends in New York City on 17 Nov. The movie’s stars, including Grande, Erivo, Yeoh and Goldblum, and director Jon M Chu were dressed to the nines to greet their fans, who had paid more than $90 to enter the ticketed event.
