A 47-year-old widower pleaded guilty at the Muar Sessions Court for inviting his 14-year-old daughter to engage in sexual acts.
The self-employed man was sentenced to two years in jail and two strokes of the rotan.
Solicit Sexual Acts
The incident occurred at approximately 4pm on 16 Jun 2025 at a house in Batu Pahat, Johor. The accused attempted to solicit sexual acts from his only child while they were in his bedroom.

The victim refused her father’s advances and immediately left his bedroom. She contacted her aunt to express concerns that her father might act inappropriately towards her.
The aunt asked one of her children to pick the girl up from the house after learning about the incident.
Court Proceedings and Legal Framework Under Sexual Offences Act
Sessions Court Judge Sayani Mohd Nor sentenced the accused after he pleaded guilty to the charge. The man was charged under Section 11(1)(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which prescribes a maximum punishment of three years in jail upon conviction.
The charge was read together with Section 16 of the same Act. This section provides for an additional sentence of up to five years in jail and two strokes of the rotan due to the relationship of trust between the accused and the victim.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Diyana Najihah Fauzi prosecuted the case. The accused was not represented by legal counsel during the proceedings.
