By the time you read this, you’ve probably already cast your election vote. The die is cast and you can read the results here (GRCs and SMCs).

If you happen to be addicted to political news or elections, it is perhaps the best time to turn your heads towards the United States of America.

As Trump and Biden are shaping up to go to war for the future of America, another superstar has joined the fray to shake things up.

Kanye In The (White) House

That’s right.

As bizarre as it sounds, the hip-hop and rap legend Kanye West announced that he is going to be running for President in 2020.

We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION“, he said in his tweet.

Naturally, it broke the American internet into a pot of mixed feedback.

Despite his lack of political experience, he does have no lack of supporters, which include the mad lad Elon Musk.

But if you happen to be one of those that think it to be utter ridiculousness, you might think that he’s just doing this for publicity so that he can drop another hot album.

“I’m doing to win.”

In an interview with Forbes, Kanye West revealed that this was absolutely not the case. It wasn’t a publicity stunt for an upcoming album, and definitely not for an upcoming episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

“Like anything I’ve ever done in my life,” he said, “I’m doing to win.”

While he used to be a supporter of Trump, he’s now dropping the red hat and running independently as part of the Birthday Party.

Reader Bao: “Huh? Simi birthday party?”

“Because when we win, it’s everybody’s birthday,” he said.

Kanye is currently advised by his wife Kim Kardashian, and his close friend Elon Musk, whom he plans to let head their space program.

“America needs special people that lead.”

Circling back to Trump, Kanye stated in the interview that he had lost faith in him.

He claimed that “it looks like one big mess”, and was disappointed when he heard that Trump hid in the bunker when the country was in dire straits.

He also doesn’t think highly of Joe Biden, his other competitor.

“I’m not saying Trump’s in my way, he may be a part of my way. And Joe Biden? Like, come on man, please. You know? Obama’s special. Trump’s special. We say Kanye West is special. America needs special people that lead. Bill Clinton? Special. Joe Biden’s not special.”

Kanye then revealed that he caught the coronavirus in late February, but it doesn’t appear that he blames Trump for it, as he said that it had nothing to do with his decision to run for President this year.

When asked on his view on a cure for COVID-19, he said, “We pray. We pray for the freedom. It’s all about God. We need to stop doing things that make God mad,” maintaining his strong religious beliefs.

Yes, that’s so going to work.

Run This Town

Referencing his original decision to run in 2024, Kanye said: “Let’s see if the appointing is at 2020 or if it’s 2024—because God appoints the president. If I win in 2020 then it was God’s appointment. If I win in 2024 then that was God’s appointment.”

A man of strong beliefs indeed.

If you follow American politics, you might have a candidate you favour.

Who are you rooting for in this upcoming election?

And aren’t you glad that Singapore politics is so predictable (less Sengkang GRC, of course)?

And on a side note, politicians have been talking about NCMP (Non-Constituency Member of Parliament) in recent days. So, what’s an NCMP? Do you know that it’s just like an MP but the allowance is much lower? Watch this video to find out more:
