Everything About Kate Middleton’s Revelation of Her Cancer Diagnosis

The “mystery” of why Kate Middleton “disappeared” is finally revealed.

I mean, she didn’t exactly disappear lah. She just wasn’t seen in any official royal engagements since last Christmas, when she attended church with her family at Sandringham, Norfolk.

As it turns out, she was merely taking some time out of the public eye to deal with a personal issue — a cancer diagnosis.

Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Kate Middleton’s Revelation of Her Cancer Diagnosis

On Friday (22 March), the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, finally revealed the reason behind her recent public “disappearance”.

The reason was cancer. But how exactly did it happen?

According to the 42-year-old princess, she underwent major abdominal surgery at The London Clinic at the start of the year. At that time, her medical team believed that her condition was non-cancerous.

Yet, as most of us know, all is not always what it seems to be.

While Kate’s surgery was successful, subsequent tests carried out by her medical team found that she had cancer. The princess was advised to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy.

Yet, that wasn’t even the worst part of it all. Receiving a cancer diagnosis is one thing, but having to break the news to your friends and family is another thing. What more about having to break the news to the public?

It’s a difficult position to be in, but Kate played it off well.

The princess decided to take some time to come to terms with the diagnosis, before telling her children about it — 10-year-old Prince George, 8-year-old Princess Charlotte, and 5-year-old Prince Louis.

Only after dealing with the news with her family, would she finally come forward and break the news to the public.

The princess said: “It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful.

She also added that her husband, Prince William, was a great source of comfort and reassurance during this period of time.

Kate is now in the early stages of preventative chemotherapy.

It is unknown how long the course of preventative chemotherapy will be. However, in the meantime, the princess will only attend events when she can — meaning she will not be making a return to her full-time royal duties.

Hopefully, there won’t be another flurry of rumours about her “disappearance”.

Not the First Member of the Royal Family With Cancer Diagnosis

For the benefit of those among us who don’t keep up with news about the royal family, here’s something you should know — Kate is not the first member of the royal family who has “jumpscared” the public with a cancer diagnosis.

King Charles was also diagnosed with cancer some time ago.

Last month, the Buckingham Palace released a statement sharing that King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer. The 75-year-old had undergone a hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement when the cancer was discovered.

Since then, the king has paid tribute to the princess, sharing that he was “so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did”.
