I’m telling you: the hawker trend is real.
From McDonald’s going for har cheong gai to young people becoming hawkers and humblebragging to the world about their contribution to the hawker industry, you’ll score a brownie point if you just associate yourself with hawker.
And our dear KFC isn’t going to lose out to this trend because they’re coming out with an ironic hawker dish that would either make or break.
Introducing…the cereal chicken by KFC.
KFC Cereal Chicken
Yah, you’ve read it right. The popular zi char dish, which is also available as a side in cai png, has just entered the KFCverse.
Unlike your typical zichar stall, KFC made it a point to inform us that their cereal got brand one: it’s by NESTUM, a brand under Nestle.
According to KFC, it comprises “heaps of Nestum cereal wok-fried with slivers of curry leaves, fresh chili and butter, over KFC’s Hot & Spicy chicken that is tossed in special spice seasoning.”
And while “KFC Cereal Chicken might not have the pastel colours like your rainbow grilled cheese sandwich or trending salted egg anything, its irresistible taste combination of spices, chilies, curry leaves and crunchy cereal will make you choose taste over trend.”
I don’t know about you, but the more they claimed to have stayed away from trends, the more I felt that this dish is all about trends #justsaying #rememberhawkertrend?
The cereal chicken will only be available this Friday (28 June 2019), and that day will also make the comeback of the KFC Chocolate Hazelnut Egg Tart.
