I’m sure you’ve seen photos like these being shared on social media so far:
If you don’t get what these photos mean, they’re actually talking about the social distancing measures that everyone has to practise now.
In fact, more restaurants are ensuring that their patrons are seated apart during mealtimes and more retailers are putting up signages to ensure that their customers who are queuing for the cashier are spaced apart.
Why?
It is to curb the rampant spread of the highly contagious and deadly virus, COVID-19.
But those are not all.
Now, even our favourite fried chicken fast food restaurant has joined the bandwagon and started imposing social distancing measures.
KFC Now Also Doing Social Distancing
On 21 March, KFC took to Facebook to make an announcement.
They, too, are practising social distancing by ensuring that there are floor stickers placed 1m apart for customers to stand behind when queuing for the cashier.
There are also crosses on alternate seats so that customers know not to sit on those chairs when sharing a table with others. This helps to ensure that everyone observes a safe distance from one another.
In an attempt to shorten the queues and also minimise contact with others, KFC also offers a service where you can order online even when you’re at their restaurant.
You just have to go to their official website or download the KFC Singapore app and scan the QR code that is provided on the table that you’re sitting at, and voila, you’re able to skip the queue and get your order prepared.
Alternatively, you can even pre-order your meal before reaching their restaurant and pick it up at the time you have indicated.
Beware When Ordering Through App
While KFC says that their app works fine and you will be able to get your order by ordering through the app, comments on their Facebook page says otherwise.
It seems that many KFC customers have been experiencing problems with their delivery app, claiming that despite making an order and paying for their meals, their food only arrived hours later.
One netizen even commented that it was probably easier to just head down to the restaurant to get your order instead of waiting for delivery.
KFC did not respond to these comments but perhaps they were feeling too overwhelmed with the immense number of orders, especially since everyone is choosing to stay home and order delivery instead.
Practising Social Distancing
It is nice to see that more restaurants and retailers are observing social distancing to ensure that the rapid spread of COVID-19 is being curbed.
There’s only so much the government can do with their travel restrictions and whatnot, but please remember that we have to do our part as well.
Make sure you practise social distancing, and while you may think you will never be infected with COVID-19, please take this pandemic seriously.
It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
