To say that customers and fast-food workers have not been getting along during the Covid-19 outbreak would be an understatement.
Several videos of altercations between impatient customers and frustrated fast-food employees have cropped up in the last few months, especially since dining in was banned.
Whether it’s the result of being cooped up at home, or the inability to drink bubble tea, people are really tense these days, none more so than this 42-year-old woman.
KFC Feud
Most of you know KFC as the place where people go to drown their sorrows in buckets of fried chicken.
But on 22 Apr 2020, one inexplicably furious woman started spitting and cursing at a fast-food worker at a KFC outlet in in NEX mall in Serangoon.
Someone recorded the incident and uploaded it to social media, where it went viral.
The video starts with the woman shouting at the fast-food worker, so it’s not clear what exactly she was angry about.
Based on what she said, it may have been because she had to “wait” for her order.
Here’s what she said:
“Nobody will scared.
Don’t let people wait like that.
Wait for you to die *points threateningly at staff*
Wait for your whole family to die.”
She sounds like she’d be a great dinner guest.
After screaming at the fast-food worker while pointing her finger at her aggressively, the woman spits twice at the worker, and leaves the outlet.
An older woman who was standing next to her throughout the incident, quietly watched the whole time, probably wondering why she’s even friends with this maniac.
But justice always prevails, as they say.
The 42-year-old woman was arrested a few days later and now faces several charges.

Charged But Intends to Claim Trial
The woman, Lin Si Ting, now faces three charges including using criminal force by spitting, using abusive words, and not wearing her mask properly, reported CNA.
Lin, however, is disputing these charges.
Yes, despite the fact that there’s a video of her spitting, cursing, and wearing her mask improperly, she intends to claim trial to the charges without a lawyer.
Claiming trial means that that you dispute the charge and would like a court hearing to defend yourself.
I’m not sure how Lin is going to defend herself in court with this evidence floating around, but I’m sure it’ll make for an entertaining story.
She will return to court for a pre-trial conference on 1 Jul.
For spitting, Lin can be jailed for up to three months, fined up to S$1,500, or both.
For cursing with the intent to cause alarm, she can be jailed for up to six months, fined up to S$5,000, or both.
And, as you know, not wearing a mask properly can get you a jail sentence of six months, a $10,000 fine, or both.
Be Nice to Fast-Food Workers
Ever since the coronavirus started spreading, restaurants, mainly fast-food establishments, have seen a spike in delivery orders.
Since no one is allowed to dine in at the moment, more people are choosing to buy takeaway or have their food delivered.
This can lead to longer wait times, which can frustrate and upset some customers.
Here’s the thing though: it’s not the fast-food worker’s fault.
If they’re taking your order, they can’t magically make your order come any quicker if you shout at them like a maniac.
Try being a little patient instead. These workers already have a lot on their plate. Abusing them will achieve absolutely nothing.
And if you’re in KFC, just give it a couple more minutes. Once you bite into that juicy fried chicken, all your anger will melt away.
