If parents allowed it, kids would literally play 24 hours a day for several days until they collapse from exhaustion.
It’s what kids love doing, besides crying and farting.
That’s the main reason why children have that special glow on their faces during the school holidays: they can play all day, every day.
But because their little minds are still forming and have not fully experienced the world, they may sometimes get into little accidents while playing, or find themselves stuck in precarious places.
No, literally.
6YO Boy’s Leg Stuck in Bishan Playground Metal Net & Has to be Rescued by SCDF Officers
That’s exactly what happened to a 6-year-old boy who got his leg stuck while playing at a playground along Bishan Street 23 on Tuesday evening (15 June).
The boy was at the playground with his sister at the time, according to Shin Min Daily News.
At one point, the boy was climbing a wire tunnel when he slipped, and his thigh ended up getting caught in a gap.
Worried, the boy’s sister rushed home to inform their mother who immediately called the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
SCDF officers arrived around 15 minutes later and thankfully managed to free the boy’s leg using hydraulic equipment.
The boy was also assessed by a paramedic and was not taken to the hospital.
Marymount MP Gan Siow Huang wrote about the incident in a Facebook post yesterday, thanking the SCDF for rescuing the 6-year-old.
“The boy’s mum told me that he is okay and hopes to be able to use the playground again,” she wrote.
“We have closed the playground in the meantime and will improve its design for better safety before re-opening it.”
2 Teens Get Electric Shock From Lamp Post in Toa Payoh While Trying to Retrieve Football
In another recent incident, two boys ended up getting an electric shock while they were playing too.
The young teens were playing football next to the playground near a fitness corner in Toa Payoh.
At one point, the ball strayed and one of them went to retrieve it, but ended up getting a shock from the lamp post.
Then, when the other teen tried to save him, he received an electric shock as well. The father of one of the teens also helped, and managed to come out unharmed.
Two people were later sent to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH), the SCDF said.
One was initially warded in the intensive care unit, but was later moved to a regular ward on Monday afternoon (14 Jun).
The other teen has been discharged.
