A sickening new development has occurred in the kidnapping case of 6-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hui.
The situation involves various child porn charges against one of the alleged kidnappers.
Missing Girl Previously Found & Reunited With Family
As explained at length in previous articles, Leo Jia Hui vanished at the Bon Odori festival in Johor Bahru (JB) on 20 July.
Her mother appealed to police and social media for help, and netizens worked hard to spread the word.
In the early morning of 23 July, police found Jia Hui in a Selangor hotel. They reclassified the case as a kidnapping and arrested five suspects, one of them a 31-year-old in the hotel room with her.
Jia Hui was happily reunited with her family on the evening of 23 July, looking exhausted.
Kidnapping Suspect Charged With Possessing Child Porn
The 31-year-old suspect’s detention was set to expire on 4 August. That day, the police immediately re-arrested him due to a repulsive discovery in his home in Kulai, Johor.
There, police had found sex toys, adult pornographic material, and most importantly to the case, child sexual abuse material.
Today (8 August), the suspect was brought into court in JB at 8 am. There, he received 15 charges.
These included one count for child kidnapping, one for wrongful confinement of a person, and seven charges under Section 292 of the Penal Code for possession of porn materials.
He also faces four charges under Section 8(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which deals with any person who “obtains, collects or seeks any child pornography.”
In the same act, he was also charged under Section 10, which has to do with accessing and possessing child porn, and Section 15(a)(ii), which targets anyone who makes a child “exhibit the child’s body” so that it is seen by that person or any other people.
China Press reported that he was charged with that due to the kidnapping suspect allegedly taking off Jia Hui’s clothes in the Selangor hotel room. He also supposedly had up to 4,088 inappropriate pictures and videos of children on a hard drive.
Jia Hui’s mother, Ms Leo, left the court after some of the above 15 charges were filed against the suspect.
The suspect reportedly pleaded not guilty, according to The Star.
6-Year-Old Victim Reportedly Traumatised & Seeing Psychologist
Ms Leo posted a photo on Facebook on 6 August showing a pediatric clinic and declaring that she’d be there to support Jia Hui’s recovery.
When asked in the comments, Ms Leo said that Jia Hui had suffered serious trauma from the kidnapping ordeal and was there to see a child psychologist.
She posted a selfie of the two of them at the hospital clinic and in a later post wrote, “You are the best, Jia Hui. Mommy will accompany you in continuing to strive hard. The scary part of the world will soon be far away from you.”
Dang it…who’s cutting onions around here?
