Kids In Vietnam Use Huge Dead Snake As Skipping Rope As Onlookers Encourage Them To Play

In Vedantic philosophy, there is a story called Rajjusarpa Nyaya, The Rope and the Snake.

At night, a man walks along a path and sees a poisonous snake blocking his way. He turns and runs in the other way. When he returned in the morning, he finds a rope on the ground. He realises that he just mistook the rope for a snake, and in the dark, it is hard to see reality as it truly is. Only in the light of day, can we see more clearly.

The point of this story though will probably be completely lost to the Vietnam kids in the video we’re about to show you.

Because apparently, a snake and a rope are basically the same thing there.

Vietnam Kids Use Dead Snake As Rope To Play Skipping

The original video can be viewed on Liveleak, where it has gathered about 296k views already.

It seems like using a dead snake was an improvisation that happened when they did’t have a rope.

Hey, if humans exploit animals like industrial farming, circuses, bullfighting, sharkfin hunting, then surely using the corpse of a wild snake isn’t that bad right?

The video was filmed in Vietnam, and shows a group of children giggling and singing as they play the nope rope.

A man and a woman’s voice can be heard in the background, and the Daily Mail says the woman is encouraging the children to play.

And because they’re playing with snakes, you’d probably want to also know that Vietnam is home to a large variety of snakes, of which 37 species, including Asian cobras, coral snakes, kraits and pit vipers, are venomous.

But before you call PETA to burn (figuratively speaking) their villages for the mistreatment of animals, let’s just see why this happened.

Cause They Poor Lah

They don’t even have a rope and are stuck in a run-down village without much. I’m going to guess they can’t just turn on their computers to play Minecraft, or turn on their PS4s to play some good old Final Fantasy.

So yeah. Snake’s already dead somewhere. Normally, it would just rot and die. Now, it’s playing with kids in a safe and secure manner and potentially turning into dinner for starving kids.

In case you’re wondering if I’m joking. Yes, in Vietnam they do have snake dishes. Here:
