Kim Ji-Won Was Mobbed When She Returned to South Korea

After spending a short time in Singapore, Kim Ji-won returned to South Korea.

Like Singapore, a large group of fans had gathered at Seoul’s Incheon International Airport to welcome the actress on 15 May.

The crowd, however, was very chaotic.

Videos of her arrival have circulated online, depicting the frenzied scene that greeted Kim Ji-won. Large crowds swarmed the star while recording the event on their phones.

Although Kim was accompanied by security guards, videos show the star being jostled as numerous fans tried to get closer to her. Fans called her name to get her attention and attempted to hand her flowers, letters, and gifts.

@stargazefin this is so unsafe fr but i’m always amazed by the way she behaves. she was getting pushed left and right yet still had time to worry about others and remained professional. even her smile never faded omg i can’t help but fall deeper w her 😩 [ #kimjiwon #queenoftears ♬ Shout Out X Blank Space – ASomeOne

As many were crowding around her and being pushed around, Kim could be heard saying “please be careful” multiple times.

“There’s a pillar,” she warned when fans were about to walk into it.

Despite the overwhelming reception, Kim still kept a smile on her face and accepted gifts from fans, all the while showing concern for the safety of those around her.

Fans Concerned About Her

Those who have seen videos of Kim Ji-won’s arrival, or were there themselves, have expressed concern for the actress.

Fans note that in the process of trying to fight for a chance to hand Kim a gift, fans could possibly hit Kim and end up hurting her. They also note that all the pushing and shoving could cause the actress to trip and fall.

Many also say that crowding around Kim could easily drain her and stress her out, saying that Kim’s apparent introverted nature makes it easier for her to feel overwhelmed in such situations.

Fans, however, applaud a girl in a black shirt who is seen standing behind Kim in many of the videos. According to fans, the girl is not one of Kim’s security staff, but is simply a fan trying to protect the star from being shoved around.

Her Agency’s Response

Kim Ji-won’s agency, HighZium Studio, has released a statement on X regarding her safety at airports.

Noting the large crowds that have gathered for Kim’s airport arrivals and departures, HighZium Studio said they “fully understand the seriousness of (safety) concerns” being raised, and ask fans for their cooperation in keeping everyone safe.

The agency wrote: “First, to maintain a safe distance, please refrain from taking excessive photos and delivering letters and gifts in person. Instead, please send the letters and gifts to the agency, and we will make sure they are delivered to our actors.”

“Also, for security reasons, please refrain from taking any photos or videos in the immigration and duty-free zones other than the public areas,” the statement continued.

The agency thanked fans for their support and love, and said they strive to prioritise the safety of both their artists and fans.
