Recently, Singapore celebrities have been making internet headlines.
Some, like Ian Fang, for good news, while others, not so much.
Now, another actress has the social media world buzzing again.
Actress Kimberly Chia’s Neighbour Called Her Out on Social Media for Dumping Rubbish at HDB Corridor
Kimberly Chia, 25, is the talk of the town today.
The reason? Her neighbours called her out on dumping rubbish along the HDB corridor.
According to CNA, Chia was packing up the home with her family in preparation for a massive renovation on the family home.
On 19 Oct, her neighbour, Stephanie Faith Lim, uploaded pictures of garbage bags, furniture and even a workstation left near the lift lobby with the caption:
“Dear @kimberlychia, I know you and your beloved family are busy packing for your upcoming renovation. But please be more considerate of your neighbors and the cleaner”
Another neighbour also left a comment saying how the “obstruction” prevented her from throwing her own trash.
Kimberly Chia Responds
Now, as a public figure and an ambassador for several brands, there was only one way Chia could respond to the incident.
She apologised.
Explaining that they needed some time to clear everything, Chia apologised and confirmed that the trash has been cleared away.
It was added that the town council was aware of the situation and have arranged to help them dispose of big items that they are unable to dispose of by themselves.
Chia ended off her apology by asking for the kind understanding of her neighbours and apologises for any future “inconvenience” caused.
Should Have Spoken To Us First
But while Chia is “technically” in the wrong, it seems like there’s one thing about the entire situation that Chia is not okay with.
Speaking to 8Days, she reportedly said that the neighbours should have spoken to her and her family first instead of escalating it onto Instagram immediately.
Nonetheless, she said, she understands that she could’ve handled the packing and renovation better and hope that her neighbours will “understand”.
Meanwhile, netizens online were divided by this issue too.
While some felt that Chia was in the wrong, others thought that the neighbours should have spoken to Chia and her family first before trying to “online-shame” them.
A Spate Of S’pore Celebs Upgrading/Buying Homes
Speaking of renovation, this makes Chia the fifth Singaporean celebrity (we know of, at least) to upgrade their living pad during this Covid-19 pandemic.
Other celebrities who’ve done so include Romeo Tan, Ian Fang, Honglin and power couple, Qi Yuwu and Joanne Peh.
