Shoppers at a mall in Pandan Indah got the shock of their lives when they allegedly heard explosions coming from a nearby escalator within the mall.

Took Place at 1PM on 25 Oct 2016

The incident occurred at around 1PM on 25 Oct 2016, Tuesday. Thankfully, nobody was injured in the incident.

Photos posted on social media showed the extent of the damage.

Around 10 steps displaced from the top of the escalator, with three of such steps sliding down to the lower level.

It was reported that the incident occurred because of a technical malfunction.

Repair work less than 1/2 hour

Technicians were called in to deal with the issue and repair work lasted less than half an hour.

Pretty impressive considering the damage suffered by the escalator.

This is the second time such incident occurred in the mall since July this year.

This accident came after a spate of escalator accidents including one which caught a child’s genitals and the escalator that broke apart at Miri Airport in June earlier this year.
