Bored of waiting for your bus? Now, you can be entertained while doing so.
In a recent project that has been launched yesterday, Singapore’s pilot Smart Bus Stop is currently in place at the bus-stop along Jurong Gateway Road at Jurong East Central just behind JCube.
In a report by Channel News Asia, Project Bus Stop provides facilities such as free Wi-Fi, handphone charging points, interact smart boards that provide services such as bus arrival timings, location maps, an e-book download, green roof, bicycle parking and even a swing. It also showcases artwork by local illustrator Lee Xin Li, the agencies said.
The prototype was conceived by a group of architects from DP Architects to re-imagine the daily commuting experience and how people “transit, interact and socialise”
The new features will be in operation for a year from August 2016, and free WIFi will also be available from September 2016. The public is also encouraged to share their experiences of using the bus stop so that further improvements can be made.
Project Bus Stop is one of several ongoing projects by government agencies and the industry to test out innovative technology in Jurong Lake District, which is envisioned to be a leading model for Singapore in developing a mixed-use urban district that is sustainable, smart and connected.
