Kong Hee, Who Now Lives in Upper Bukit Timah, Made First Public Appearance After He Was Released

Unless you’ve been meditating in a secret cave deep within the other dimension of Yishun, you’d have known about this:

Kong Hee’s hair is now white.

And of course, Kong Hee’s now released from prison. The City Harvest Church saga has come full circle, and unless anyone decides to anyhowly spend donations on a singer’s career, no one’s hair is going to turn white again.

With his release, the media has been following his footsteps closely, for everyone wants to know what’s next for the white-haired dude.

Well, for a start, he’s unlike any inmate.

Released from a Small Cell to a Big House

According to multiple reports, Kong Hee’s now allegedly living in a three-storey terrace house at Upper Bukit Timah.

Lest you’re not aware, Bukit Timah is the area for the BMW- and Mercedes-loving people—however, Upper Bukit Timah isn’t bad too, with it just next to Bukit Timah and relatively close to town. It’s still an atas area.

How many inmates can boast that they’ve a big house waiting for them after they’re released?

And it’s not just a big house. It has a swimming pool, five bedrooms, a helper’s room and read this: a lift.

A lift in a house? Kong Hee Fatt Choy, indeed.

Reports alleged that the house is rented, and the last list price indicated in 2018 was a whopping $12,000 a month.

Kong Hee Fatt Choy.

But giving credit where credit’s due, the pastor’s being remorseful, according to his first appearance after he was released.

Addressed his Followers Yesterday (24 August 2019)

Yesterday, the 55-year-old made his first appearance in the Suntec premises of City Harvest Church to loud applauses and the packed church.

He said,” This is the only time you’ll hear from me for quite a while. Having been away from 2017, it feels really surreal to be here… I’m so grateful for the opportunity to stand before you and to say today from the bottom of my heart that I am very sorry for everything that has happened.

“I was convicted by the court for criminal breach of trust. I have served my sentence and today I find myself humbled.

“I want all of you to know that I’m so sorry, so sorry, for any pain, anxiety, disappointment or grief that you have suffered because of me…The last few years have just been very difficult and painful for me and for everyone involved.”

Next, he spoke about his priorities: “I have missed out on a significant part of my son’s growing-up years with the long-drawn court trial and subsequent incarceration. My absence has also pained my parents deeply. Now, they are already in their 90s and I wish to be a filial son, to be around to take care of them.”

Here’s one interesting thing: Kong Hee requested the churchgoers not to clap for him before his speech. But of course we all know there were loud applauses.

Maybe it’s time for some yellow ribbons?
