18-Year-Old Falls From 13-Storey Building in Korea, Survives But Kills 11-Year-Old Girl on Impact

A fatal incident occurred on 7 Jul 2025 in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, when an 18-year-old woman fell from a 13-storey commercial building and struck three pedestrians below.

Fatal Impact Claims Young Life in Gyeongandong Area

The incident took place at 2:30 PM in the city’s Gyeongandong area. The 18-year-old woman, identified only as “A”, fell from the rooftop of the high-rise commercial building.

Three pedestrians were walking near the building when the fall occurred. The group consisted of a 45-year-old woman, her 11-year-old daughter, and a 23-year-old man.

The 11-year-old girl died instantly from the impact. The young woman who fell and the 45-year-old woman both suffered cardiac arrest and were transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The 23-year-old man sustained injuries to his shoulder and other areas. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Mental Health Treatment Preceded Building Fall

The 18-year-old had visited a psychiatric clinic located within the same building earlier that day. She had received treatment at the mental health institute before the incident occurred.

Officials from the Gwangju Police Station and the fire department responded to the scene. Police are investigating the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the woman’s fall from the building.

The current conditions of the woman who fell and the injured mother have not been disclosed by authorities as of Monday afternoon. Both remained unconscious following their cardiac arrest.
