South Korean singer Hyuna collapsed mid-performance at the Waterbomb music festival in Macau on 9 Nov 2025. The 33-year-old K-pop star was performing her 2011 hit song Bubble Pop! when she suddenly fainted during the choreography.

Hyuna Collapses During Bubble Pop Performance at Waterbomb Macau
Videos circulating on social media show Hyuna stopping abruptly during the song’s chorus before collapsing on stage.

Two backup dancers immediately rushed to her aid. A security staff member then carried her off the stage.
Hyuna performed several of her biggest hits at the festival that day, including I’m Not Cool and Lip & Hip. The former member of K-pop groups Wonder Girls, 4Minute and Triple H took to Instagram later that evening to address the incident.
“I’m truly sorry,” she wrote in Korean. She explained it had been only a short time since her last performance but she wanted to show fans her best side.
Hyuna revealed she had no recollection of fainting. “Many Macau fans came, and of course our A-ings too, and everyone paid money to come see the stage,” she wrote.
“I’m sorry, and truly, really sorry again.” She promised to build up her stamina and work hard consistently.
“It will be so great if everything goes my way, but I’ll try my best,” Hyuna added. The singer, whose full name is Kim Hyun-ah, also reassured fans about her condition.
“And I’m really okay! Don’t worry about me,” she wrote.

Rapid 10kg Weight Loss Follows Social Media Criticism
Hyuna’s collapse came after she publicly documented a dramatic weight loss over the preceding month. On 3 Oct 2025, she posted on Instagram about her eating habits and weight, addressing herself in third person.
“Hyun-ah, you ate way too much,” she wrote. “Let’s snap out of it and go on a strict diet. You liked being skinny, right? Let’s do it again.”
The post came after the singer faced intense scrutiny and criticism from netizens for weight gain following a recent airport appearance. Just over a month later on 4 Nov 2025, Hyuna revealed she had lost approximately 10kg.
She shared a photo of a weighing scale showing she weighed about 49kg. “It’s so hard to change the first digit from the 50s,” she wrote in the caption. “I still have a long way to go. How much have you eaten all this time, Kim Hyun-ah?” she added.
Hyuna married South Korean singer Yong Jun-hyung, 35, in October 2024.
History of Vasovagal Syncope and Mental Health Struggles
This is not the first time Hyuna has experienced health issues that affected her career. In August 2020, she delayed the release of her comeback single Good Girl. She subsequently postponed the release of her full studio album I’m Not Cool to January 2021.
Her then label P Nation said the delays were due to vasovagal syncope. Vasovagal syncope is a type of fainting spell caused by a fall in blood pressure.
It can be triggered by dehydration or standing for too long. The condition can also be caused by emotional stress, low weight, and physical exhaustion.
Hyuna also revealed on social media in November 2019 that she has been suffering from depression and panic disorder. “I wanted to be someone chosen by everyone, so I kept running forward without realizing I was sick,” she wrote at the time.
She disclosed that she had been diagnosed in 2016 after visiting a hospital.
