By now, most people would have seen the CCTV footage of a heavy glass door in Alexandra Central Mall knocking down a lady.
It was even reported in a foreign news outlet, showing the severity of the issue.
However, if not for the leaked video, we might not have known about this incident, for it happened on Sunday and the video was only posted in social media somewhere around Tuesday.
And if you’d have noticed, it’s not the original recording from the CCTV, but a filming of someone watching the video.
It seems like the “hero” who leaked the video is now “wanted” from the mall management.
Management to Take “Firm Action” Against The Party That Leaked the Video on Social Media
Now, before anything, here are more details about the incident.
The dislodged glass door was apparently misaligned, leading it to fall off from its original position. The management then sent a circular to all its tenants, claiming that security service was fast upon the incident and medical services were then called in as well.
After a joint inspection with stakeholders such as the management team, council members, installation contractor and its maintenance contractor, they concluded that they would be removing and replacing all glass doors, and would work with the Building and Construction Authority to ensure that all the new doors would be certified safe.
Which, of course leads to a burning question: prior to that, not certified safe one meh?
The management also told TODAYonline that “firm action” will be taken on the parties (Note: it’s parties, not party or person) who leaked the incident on social media and they most likely can find the source of the video, but did not say more about that.
Which, of course, led to angry responses online:
I’d reckon that they didn’t just need new doors: they need a new PR firm, too #justsaying
And according to several media reports, the area near the door is currently guarded by a security guy who did not allow anyone to take picture.
As for the victim, the management will do their best “to assist her and her family”.
Victim in High-Dependency Ward
Shin Min managed to speak to the woman’s family members and disclosed more details about her condition.
Apparently, the victim was initially conscious but in pain. Soon after, she passed out.
She’s now in high-dependency ward in NUH, and had injured her head, leg and pelvis. Her pelvis injury might have permanent repercussion.
In addition, her liver was also compressed and bleeding from the injury.
Should she not get better, she would have to undergo further surgeries.
At this moment, the police are investigating.
