Lady Posted FB Video To Shame NUH Staff, Previous Patients Defend Staff From Onslaught

Nobody likes visiting the hospital. Especially the A&E. Over there, the wait is especially excruciating and sometimes, the frazzled staff might not be all smiles and cheery to patients.

But how far would you go for an allegedly unknown pregnant lady you see?

Well, Facebook user Preet Sandhu decided to go all out for her.

Lady Filmed NUH Staff, Alleged That He Didn’t Care About Pregnant Lady in Pain

On Sunday, 4 Nov, Preet uploaded a video on Facebook showing a pregnant lady holding her belly in pain.

A woman’s voice, believed to be Preet’s, could be heard scolding the A&E staff at the Temperature Screening counter.

She said that the staff was “rude” and had a “don’t care” attitude, which is not right especially in front of a lady in pain.

The staff, at that point in time, was attending to another man in the queue.

She claimed that even after the lady’s husband had told the male staff that his wife is in pain, the male staff only started “work” after he knew she was filming the entire incident on her phone.

She added in her Facebook caption that “7 minutes have already been wasted”.

The video has garnered 126,000 views and has been shared over 2,500 times.

NUH Responds, Says It’s Only 4 Minutes

After investigating the incident, NUH posted a response on their own Facebook Page.

They clarified that such an incident has happened at their hospital. However, their CCTV records read that the pregnant lady was transferred to the delivery suite four minutes after arrival.

  • 11.16 am: Pregnant woman arrives, information taken for registration
  • 11.18 am: Pregnant lady wheeled into the Emergency Medical Department (EMD)
  • 11.20 am: Patient transferred to the delivery suite.

The hospital apologised to the patient and their husband for the seeming lack of empathy during the incident.

And, of course, the best news to share: both mother and child are doing well.

Netizens’ Responses

As with any issue on the internet, there will be interesting opinions, personal experiences and other unique takes that can be dug out from the comments section.

Netizens who empathise with the pregnant lady didn’t hesitate to voice their support for Preet and the pregnant lady.

However, there are some who rose up to defend the uncle instead.

Those who had encounters with the uncle before had nice words to say about him.

Some urge other people to put themselves in the staff’s shoes.

But really, this comment says it best.

Nobody wants to kill anybody. Instead of making a scene and preventing other patients from their much-needed medical care, there can be plenty of different ways you can go about getting what you want.
