Now, admittedly, the next topic doesn’t have much meat for me to go along with.
It all began with a Hardware Zone post under the thread title: gpgt-carousell-zehzeh-sexposed-many-many-losers-sinkie-men-creeps
There’s but a few screenshots and some 11 pages of comments at the time of writing, most in characteristic Singlish and net-talk.
But sometimes, you don’t need meat for an article.
All you need is some disgusting leftover boner and seeing as to how this has been a wet week, some humsup zhup if you will.
Carousell or Tinder?
Created by thread-starter BuiBuiJiJi on Wednesday morning at 7:55 a.m., the first post features what seems to be a series of Instagram stories.
Thread-starter’s moniker – BuiBuiJiJi – seems to indicate a fair amount of trolling potential as it reads like a certain R21 self-praise in Hokkien.
To have the luxury of time and abundance of sleep to be online at 7:55 a.m., fumbling about with the complexities of a forum, screams boh liao and wu eng too.
But let’s read on in the meantime.
In it, a Carouseller -not necessarily the thread-starter- shares some private messages between herself and supposed buyers.
Here they are:
As you can tell from the exhibits (because this is borderline criminal evidence, no?), to say that making a purchase would be the last thing on their mind is not an exaggeration.
Some choice sentences include:
Buyer A: Willing to buy both.. worn and unwashed pieces
Buyer A: With double the price
Buyer B: Hi, sorry to intrude on this listing. Do you happen to have any preloved bras for sale?
Seller: Lol thanks. I mean those daily bras that u’d normally wear. If you have any old ones that u wanna get rid of, i’d be happy to buy them.
Creepy AF if you ask me.
Surely, netizens would rally to the side of the thread-starter and pictured Carouseller right, seeing as to how they are perhaps doing social justice by exposing such folks?
Comments
Well, apparently not.
There is firstly the case of the Singaporean Man versus Eurasian Men.
In an immediate follow-up to the screenshots, thread-starter BuiBuiJiJi posted a comment that read: “Sinkie men really xia suay cmi leh ….”.
This sparked off some highly-defensive post.
In it, they allege that the Carouseller’s and thread-starters reactions would have been different if the potential buyers were Eurasian.
Secondly, netizens caught hold of the fact that the Carouseller appears to be Melissa Faith Yeo, a local model/actress.
They reckoned she had an agenda for asking these potential buyers if they were Singaporeans to begin with.
Some pointed out that the Carouseller’s account has since been deleted.
Agenda, Who Knows? But Disgusting These Folks Are Undoubtedly.
At the end of the day, I don’t suppose we will ever know the identity of the thread-starter nor will we ever learn of her/his agenda in starting the thread.
Despite the comments levelled at both the Carouseller and the thread-starter, they don’t change the fact that the buyers pictured in the screenshots displayed predatory and downright sexually-harassing behaviour.
How the thread took such an ugly and dismissive turn just goes to show the dangers of the internet.
In the meantime, for those out prowling, let’s just say T isn’t C and if you are out there looking, try Tinder instead.
