Landlord Complains About ‘Highly Educated’ Tenant, Hoping for Support But Got Called Out Instead

You can’t always get what you want.

Most of us would die for a cup of bubble tea right now, but all we have at the moment are 3-in-1 packets of Thai Milk Tea.

Many of us would like to visit our friends, but we have to talk to them through glass screens instead.

Similarly, all this frustrated landlord wanted was some sympathy, and maybe some advice when he complained about a tenant online.

But he ended up getting criticised instead.

Landlord Complains About ‘Highly Educated’ Tenant

The man took to Facebook to complain about one of his tenants in a lengthy post on the Facebook group Complaint Singapore.

In his post, the man says he wants to share his experiences with his current tenant: a ‘highly-educated’ 28-year-old Malaysian Chinese woman.

According to the landlord, the woman agreed to two conditions as part of their tenancy agreement:

1. That she wouldn’t cook anything other than Maggie Mee

2. That her air-conditioner only be used for 8.5 hours when she’s sleeping

However, the landlord claims that the tenant has been cooking other things, using his “expensive pots, air fryer, and microwave.”

Not just that, she never cleans these appliances after using them, leaving them oily, dirty, or in the case of his air fryer, blackened and damaged.

He initially let her get away with it, but when she started cooking for her aunts, he banned her from cooking.

A few days later, he found her frying an egg, and when she said “egg also cannot?”, he said no, and asked her to stick to cooking Maggie Mee.

Who the heck can survive on Maggie Mee?

In addition, the woman sets her air-conditioner at 18°C and sets the bathroom heater to the maximum temperature.

This, the landlord said, caused his wall to “become a waterfall” and mouldy.

Those weren’t his only complaints, though.

Other Grievances

The landlord said she doesn’t keep her room clean either, and that “ants keep crawling into her room.”

Moreover, she orders a lot of food (presumably because she doesn’t want to eat Maggie Mee for the rest of her life) but never answers the door when her delivery arrives.

Other grievances include:

  • having to wash her “shit” and “period blood” off the toilet bowl
  • smoking in her room
  • used the landlord’s toothpaste and Listerine
  • higher bills

If what this landlord says is true, then this woman might just be the worst tenant in the history of humankind.

So, why don’t they just find another tenant then? There’s just one problem:

“We cannot ask her to as we need the extra income…”.

Instead of offering some advice like he was hoping for, many netizens slammed the landlord, saying he had imposed some unreasonable rules on his tenant.

There were a few netizens who said that he should find a new tenant, but most commenters believed that he was too fussy.
