Every once in a while, popular vlogging series Nas Daily releases a longer than usual video that talks about specific matters. Usually, that’s when the ad comes in, because Nas Daily also needs to pay the bills.
And it seems that today, it’s resident country Singapore’s turn.
But don’t worry. This video the popular vlogger did…
Paints our country in a brilliant, flattering light.
(again)
Though some Singaporeans, being authentic Singaporeans, will kind of disagree.
The Almost Perfect Country
In Nas Daily’s latest video, the popular vlogger talks about how Singapore’s the Almost Perfect Country, with solutions pertaining to every pressing environmental issue that has consistently bugged countries:
- Racism
- Poverty
- Traffic
- Pollution
And at a certain point, even our resident Prime Minister stepped in to give a talk, though instead of a National Day rally right there and then, it’s more of a Nas-inspired, jovial PM Lee telling the camera how far Singapore has come.
I’m not sure whether you should be shocked, because eight days ago, Nas Daily posted this in his Instagram:
Note that he’s carrying a camera, so wells.
Why an Almost Perfect Country?
Wondering why it’s called Almost Perfect Country? Well, that’s because Nas Daily acknowledged that despite Singapore’s seemingly perfect exterior, it still has a number of flaws, spanning inequality, high prices, lowly-paid foreign workers and more. But the difference here?
Singapore, unlike many other countries, is trying to fix those problems.
Yah, nothing in life is perfect, expect Nutella. Nas Daily should do a video about it, but anyways.

I put my heart and soul into this video. I hope you it inspires you like it inspired me. It's the story of the country that impressed me the most out of all the countries I've been to. I hope their story gets you more excited like it got me more excited.Because if they can, then we can. And thank you to Project Nightfall and Dear Alyne for going on this journey with me.

This is an interesting development
Considering how just three weeks prior, Nas released this video.
Although granted, after watching that you’re probably cursing at me. But hey, blame Nas for the clickbait title, not us.
But then again, I’ll be shocked if you haven’t watched it.
Reactions
Following the release of the video, there arose quite a number of… well…
Complaints.
But here’s the thing; it seems that the phrase ‘the danger lies within’ does hit its mark sometimes, as the majority of the complaints stemmed from none other than…
Your friendly and tolerable Singaporeans.
Just check out the number of likes on that one comment. Interesting how one of the most relevant comments there wasn’t actually a positive one…
By one of our own countrymen, no less.
Although it wasn’t really unexpected…
But ironically, it did get to a point where a Singaporean had to speak against his own countrymen’s comments about a video that technically speaks well about the given country.
#ironicmuch
Thankfully, however, it’s not all gloom, as there are appreciative Singaporeans after all.
So I guess in a way, Nas isn’t wrong.
Looks like Nas just got a new follower in his ginormous Facebook fan base.
Is Singapore truly almost perfect?
Now, this is no doubt an open-ended question, seeing how there would invariably be two sides to the equation:
“Almost perfect? Fat hope. You know how much a car here cost, and how much my salary is?”
“Oh yes, it’s absolutely marvellous. Everything’s going great. Thumbs up!”
And since each has its own strengths, you really can’t determine a victor here. But here’s the thing.
Seeing how Nas so enthusiastically brought his points across, I’m inclined to side with him. Though I’m still not really convinced that the country’s truly almost perfect, seeing how its flaws are still too glaring to be classified into that godly tier.
But enough about me.
What about you?
Is Singapore, as Nas Daily puts it…
A truly Almost Perfect country?
