PM Lawrence Wong Will Deliver Budget Speech on 18 Feb 2025

PM Lawrence Wong will be delivering the Budget speech on 18 February 2025.

Here’s what you should know about it.

What the Budget Speech Will Likely Cover

The 2025 Budget statement will be delivered by PM Lawrence Wong on 18 February 2025.

But what exactly will the Budget speech cover? Well, according to PM Wong, the cost of living and job security will likely be the key themes being covered, given that these are the main concerns raised by Singaporeans.

Aside from the cost of living and job security, the broad themes being covered in consultation sessions with the public also give a better idea as to what the budget speech will likely cover.

These themes include developing a more vibrant business ecosystem, skills upgrading and jobs for workers, and support for Singaporeans in varying stages of life.

And since SG60 is coming up next year, another theme that will be covered in public consultation sessions is the strengthening of Singaporeans’ sense of identity and unity.

How to Participate in Public Consultations

Huh? Gong simi? There are public consultations?

Well, if you’ve yet to hear about these public consultations but you’re now interested in participating in them, here’s what they’re all about.

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) is partnering with agencies such as the People’s Association (PA) to conduct public consultations both physically and virtually. These consultation sessions will last till 12 January 2025.

During these public consultations, members of the public can share their views on a particular government policy or issue.

So, if you feel like there’s a need for more CDC vouchers, you now know where to make yourself heard instead of ranting to the Sheng Siong cashier.

Additionally, there will be a public engagement session conducted by REACH on 16 January 2025, from 11:30 am to 2 pm, at One Raffles Place. You can find out more about it here.

For now, if you have something to say about a certain government policy or issue but don’t feel like leaving the comfort of your bed, you can share your views virtually through various feedback channels.

The full list of the online feedback channels can be found here.
