Lawrence Wong, Tan Chuan Jin, Chan Chun Sing & Ong Ye Kung Remade Into F4 Meteor Garden Music Video

Have you heard? The 4G ministers recently started a band called G4.

Well, kind of, but not really. Someone remade the music video of F4’s hit song Meteor Garden to feature some of our 4G ministers instead.

Lawrence Wong, Tan Chuan Jin, Chan Chun Sing & Ong Ye Kung Remade Into F4 Meteor Garden Music Video

On Monday (8 May), Tan Chuan Jin, Speaker of the Parliament, shared a video on Facebook that would take Singapore’s internet by storm.

It was a video of Lawrence Wong, Tan Chuan Jin, Chan Chung Sing & Ong Ye Kung remade into the F4 Meteor Garden music video.

“Err… on a totally different note,” he wrote, meaning that quite literally. He added that he didn’t know the appropriate reaction to the video—whether to laugh, cry, or.. sing.

The answer is clear: To start a boy band.

Even the Speaker himself doesn’t know who created this gem of a video, or a horror if you’d like. It’s unclear whether the video was created using AI or an app.

Or, in the Speaker’s words, perhaps it was made on a “siao app”.

At least now we’re sure Singapore can be a Smart Nation.

Live “G4 Concert” in the Next Parliament Sitting or at NDP 2023?

If you didn’t already know, the music video is that of F4’s Meteor Garden, a popular song from the last decade. Don’t believe us? Just ask your parents.

The remade video featuring Singapore’s “G4” opens with our current Deputy Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, with sparks flowing from his fingertips.

Looks magical—no wonder he could do wonders when co-chairing the COVID-19 task force.

We then get another similar scene, but this time of Tan Chuan Jin.

One thing’s certain: their hair in this video looks like they could feature in a shampoo commercial. A particular netizen even jokingly asked if MPs are allowed to “keep long hair”; if so, the ministers should start a band.

The Speaker responded, “at this age, what strands we can hang on to oready very happy liao, much less having long hair…”

It must be all the stress from running the country.

The remade music video then pans across what appears to be Chan Chun Sing, Lawrence Wong, and Tan Chuan Jin singing the iconic chorus of the original song.

Our Minister of Health, Ong Ye Kung, then finally appears at this point, singing alongside Chan Chun Sing and Lawrence Wong.

Out with the TWICE or Lauv concerts, what Singaporeans need now is a concert from our newest boy band.

The Speaker also cracked a light-hearted joke about this, sharing that the live concert will be at “a Parliament sitting coming near you”.

If the opposition isn’t too happy with a live concert in Parliament, fret not. There’s an alternative. In response to another comment making a quip about a potential live show, the Speaker responded that the concert would be at NDP 2023.

Perhaps instead of Meteor Garden, they’ll be singing Home.

Speaker With A Great Sense of Humour

If you’re having a bad day because the cai png auntie didn’t give you extra rice, we’re sure the Speaker can cheer you up with his witty comments.

In response to a netizen that said he would vote for the PAP during the next GE after watching this video, the Speaker remarked that the video might cause a loss in votes instead because of how “cmi” it is.

Although the remade music video put a smile on most of our faces, one Manchester United fan didn’t seem too happy about it, sharing that he would rather “watch highlights of the 7-0 loss to Liverpool” than the remade music video.

In response, the Speaker said he was on the same page as the Manchester United fan.

It also appears that although the Speaker finds the video quite repugnant, he maintains a good sense of humour about it, even saying there should be a general health warning not to watch it.
