It felt like only yesterday that Apple’s first iPhone model was released to the crowd, revolutionising the entire mobile device industry as we knew it and inspiring many other series of ‘high-tech smartphones‘.
And look at where we are now. With the upcoming release of the iPhone 12 this year and the iPhone 13 next year, it’s safe to say that Apple and consumers alike have come a long, long way.
But like all humans, we’re still hungry for more.
Better technology. Better functions. Better usability.
And so, recently leaked details of the supposed iPhone 13 prototype might either please you or disappoint you. Though one thing’s for sure;
The iPhone series has definitely reached an all-new milestone.
Leaked iPhone 13 Prototype Suggests That It’s Notch-less With Front Camera Under Its Screen
According to HardwareZone, Japanese site Macotakara has managed to procure a 3D printed mockup of an iPhone 13 prototype from “Alibaba sources”, and has derived several interesting insights from the supposed 2021 model release.
Apparently, the iPhone 13 prototype is set to be a 5.5-inch model. In comparison, this year’s iPhone 12 is shorter by 0.1 inch.
The iPhone 13 prototype seems to lack a notch for Face ID, and the TrueDepth system, along with the front-facing camera, is speculated to be situated under the display.
This is certainly plausible, considering how the iPhone 12 is rumoured to sport a smaller notch. It’s possible that in future iPhone generations, the notch would no longer be present.
Slimmer bezels, as well as a change from Lightning to USB-C port, seem to be some of the more prominent features of the new iPhone.
There are rumours, however, that the iPhone 13 could scrap the port altogether, but they have yet to be verified.

High Megapixel Cameras
According to @choco_bit, the iPhone 13 may also come with super high megapixel cameras.
In a tweet, the tipster reveals that the iPhone 13 may be equipped with four rear cameras comprising of a:
- 64MP standard-wide angle lens (1x optical zoom and 6x digital zoom)
- 40MP telephoto lens (with 3-5x optical zoom and 15-20x digital zoom)
- 64MP anamorphic lens for video capture (2.1:1)
- 40MP .25x min ultra-wide-angle lens with optical reverse zoom.
There will also supposedly be a LiDAR Scanner dubbed LiDAR 4.0.
You can view a video clip of the iPhone 13 prototype down below.
Take note, however, that design and specs may differ from the final product, as all prototypes go.
The tipster has also cautioned that the aforementioned information should be taken with a grain of salt.
And with that said, it’s time to make a choice:
To go for this year’s iPhone 12, or wait for next year’s model?
Well, you decide.
