Former local actress Carole Lin has suffered a severe leg injury that required surgery and will need a lengthy recovery period.
On 9 Mar 2025, Lin shared a video on Instagram showing herself using a walking frame with her left foot heavily bandaged. The 52-year-old revealed she is currently homebound following surgery and hospitalisation.

The accident occurred when Lin was looking for a place to have lunch along a row of shophouses. While looking at a restaurant across the road, she missed a step and fell.
“One foot went crashing down with unprepared awareness and went ‘crack’,” Lin wrote in her post.
The fall resulted in severe injuries to both legs. Lin found herself sitting on the ground with a sprained right ankle, while her left leg sustained far more serious damage.
“A foot hanging lifeless, oozing blood, snapped fibula poking through my calf and tibia shattered,” she described. The fibula and tibia are the two bones in the lower leg.
Lin was immediately hit by shock and excruciating pain from the accident.
Recovery Journey for Former Best Actress Winner
Lin did not specify the exact location or date of the incident in her posts. She described the experience as “traumatic and graphic” but maintained a positive outlook despite her circumstances.
“I’m still counting my blessings and I’m humbled by the universe’s way of telling me there’s more out there to learn and appreciate,” she wrote.
She also cautioned her followers: “Most importantly: Please look where you are going.”
In her post, Lin expressed gratitude to everyone who helped her during the incident, including strangers, friends, family, and public services. She indicated she would dedicate her next post to acknowledging those who assisted in “saving” her leg.
Lin was a finalist in Mediacorp’s talent competition Star Search in 1995. She became well-known for her roles in Channel 8 TV series such as the 1940s post-war drama Tofu Street (1996) and World War II drama The Price Of Peace (1997). Her performance in The Price Of Peace earned her the Best Actress award at Mediacorp’s annual Star Awards.
The actress has not been active in the entertainment industry since her last appearance in the historical drama The Journey: A Voyage (2013 to 2014).
Lin married United States-born Korean chiropractor David Lim in 2014, and they have a nine-year-old daughter.
Lin mentioned that her recovery will be “a long healing process” but she plans to take it “step by step, blessing by blessing.”
