If you’re familiar with internet lingo like “Hi, intro please?” and remember navigating mIRC back in the day, chances are you know YES 933 DJ Lim Peifen, who has been a DJ since 2000.
Back then, let’s be honest—there wasn’t much to do other than listen to the radio.
Now, the veteran DJ, who has also often hosted on TV, has taken on a new role as a newscaster.
Here’s what happened.
Former YES 933 DJ Lim Peifen is Now a Channel 8 Newscaster
On 26 August 2024, Lim announced her departure from YES 933, describing it as “graduating” from the radio station.
She revealed that she would be joining Mediacorp’s Chinese News and Current Affairs team, though it wasn’t clear whether she’d be working behind the scenes or stepping into the role of a newscaster.
On 9 October 2024, it was confirmed: Lim made her debut on Mediacorp’s Channel 8 afternoon news.
She shared her thoughts on Instagram, describing her first experience presenting the news as “scary,” but added that it went “smoothly.” She thanked her colleagues and mentors for their support, sharing a photo with two of them, including veteran newscaster Ng Siew Leng.

Considering how often she’s read the news on the radio, it’s probably just another day for her fans.
