Calling all fans of Lin Chi-ling.
We have sad news for you. The popular Taiwanese actress has announced that she will be retiring from the entertainment industry.
Here is what she said.
Lin Chi-ling Will Be Retiring From the Entertainment Industry
In an interview with Cai Kang Yong, a famous television host from Taiwan, actress Lin Chi-ling revealed her intentions to retire from show business.
Featuring as a Guest on the show The Echo of Life hosted by Mr Cai (and available on YouTube), Lin proclaimed that she would no longer be returning to the entertainment business.
This comes as a surprise announcement though her fans may have expected this, given Lin’s reduction in public appearances since she got married.
The 49-year-old married AKIRA, who is a Japanese actor and dancer, in 2019. The couple have a son as well.

She Wants to Focus On Her Family
On the talk show, Lin admitted that she had become used to the life of being a mother. She shared that her son was an extrovert and loved to ask questions about everything.
As such, she wanted to teach her son from scratch and learn together with him. On top of that, she was also trying to view the world through the lens of a child.
When Mr Cai asked Lin if she would consider returning to the entertainment industry once her son was grown up and no longer needed her, Lin was firm in her response.
Shaking her head, she asked Mr Cai what age he thought that would be and to match that against her current age. Some simple maths would reveal that it would no longer be possible to return to the entertainment industry.
Lin also emphasised that she wanted to remain as the youthful Lin Chi-ling jie jie (older sister) in everyone’s hearts, even when her hair turned grey.
She also wanted to be remembered as a gentle person with silky black hair and a ready smile for everyone.
During the interview, Mr Cai also asked Lin about her willingness to appear in ad hoc entertainment events.
Lin then revealed that it would depend on the circumstances, as she was open to attending charity events.
She also candidly said that she no longer wished to be in the public eye, where people could “make comparisons” between her and others.
