Presidential candidate Mr Tan Kin Lian is no stranger to controversy.
He has made the news for various reasons in recent times, including for his posts about a “pretty girl” he sees in public.
Now, he has again been the talk of the town because of his hand placement on a little girl’s chest in an image that has made rounds on the internet.

It turns out that the little girl is Mr Tan’s granddaughter.
Mr Tan’s son, aka the little girl’s father, has come out to defend Mr Tan as well.
Here is more on what happened.
Mr Tan Kin Lian Is Photographed With His Hands on a Little Girl’s Chest
Earlier this month, Mr Tan was heavily criticised by many parties about his “pretty girl” social media posts.
Even organisations which support women’s rights, such as the Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE), spoke out about Mr Tan.
With that storm barely over, Mr Tan has again found himself in some controversy regarding women.
He was pictured with both his palms flat on a little girl’s chest.
Um, does anyone think that it is wrong? That hand placement looks inappropriate.

Little Girl Turns Out to Be Mr Tan Kin Lian’s Granddaughter
Well, it has now emerged that the little girl is Mr Tan’s granddaughter.
This news surfaced through Mr Tan’s son, Mr Tan Boon Keng.
The son posted on Facebook that there were “maliciously angled and captioned” photos of his father holding a little girl on Nomination Day.

That sure is a nice way to describe a picture which appears to show a grown man holding a little girl’s chest.
But in any case, the younger Mr Tan said that this photo was captured when his daughter excited ran to the rail to take photos with her grandfather in support of him.
It was a “loving moment between a grandfather and his granddaughter” so people should not read too much into it.
The younger Mr Tan also asked people to reflect on themselves so that others will not “judge you” for “holding your own daughter or granddaughter”.
That’s true, but then again a pat on a head is different from placing two hands on someone’s chest (assuming that it did indeed happen and was not a trick of the angle).

Mr Tan’s Son Expresses Support for Mr Tan
The younger Mr Tan’s post also expressed his support for his father.
In particular, he called out and denounced the “nasty and disgusting comments” made about the photo taken.
For context, many of the comments involved references to “pretty girls” given Mr Tan’s previous social media posts.
There have also been memes about Mr Tan, asking him to keep his hands to himself.
What do you think about this?
